Name Change - who else to call?

I changed my name on Friday and I started calling credit cards and banks so I can get new cards and stuff.  Can you think of anything else I need to change my name on?  I feel like I am forgetting something.

Re: Name Change - who else to call?

    Now, to answer your question:

    Doctor's offices

    Work stuff (401k, insurance)

Other kinds of insurance (car, house)

    Mortgage paperwork

    Student loans?

Airline frequent flyer program / hotel frequent stay program / car rental

Hair dresser, pizza delivery, nail salon (silly but I'm brainstorming)

For us, one of the things we forgot for a bit was to re-write the wills.  We also refi'd right around that time, so had to change the title for the house.  Not only should your life insurance change, but also anyone who may have you listed as a beneficiary.

  • Work, insurance, credit cards, email?, water, cable, etc..
  • My first thoughts were utility bills & magazines.  Not quite the same as changing your name, but I'd think of any & all debts/responsibilities, etc in his name that you could be responsible for, as well as anything in your name that he might have access to.  I have an ex-friend who got divoriced 2-3 years ago.  She stayed in the house but his name was still on the deed/title.  She defaulted & he got pulled into the foreclosure.   I know of a few people who had to get a lawyer & file to have their name removed once they realized their ex was about to loose a car, house, etc.
