The lab messed up my bloodwork!
My Dr. ordered my 1 hr glucose test at my last appt 2 weeks ago, so I made an appt with the lab and took my orders in. I gave the lady the paper and she said "ok, 1 hr glucose test. Drink this in 5 minutes (gave me the nasty drink) and come back up in an hour." I did all of that and then they did my bloodwork. On Friday, I got a call from the lab that they needed me to go back in to redo a Prothrombin test, which is a test my Mom does to test for blood clotting. I thought that was weird, but knew I'd be going in to see my OB today.
So, I go in today to see my OB and he says "the lab tested you for clotting and all of this other stuff that wasn't even in the orders and didn't do the glucose test." I told him they had me drink the drink, wait an hour, and everything. Apparently, they took my blood and tested it for everything but what they needed to. My Dr. was furious and called them up to see if they still had my blood to test without me going back in. He gave me new orders to redo it just in case with a note for them to apologize to me. Thankfully, they keep your blood for a week and I took it 6 days ago, so they're retesting the blood now for the proper test! UGH! I was about to be furious if I had to go redo that test... especially this week! Idiots!
