Any idea where to find canning supplies this time of year?

Anyone know where you might find a canning kit in a store this time of year? I know it's more popular late summer/early fall. My birthday is coming up and I'd like a canning kit so I can can next year. The person who would purchase this for me isn't an online shopper. So I didn't want to mention it if it wasn't findable. Ideas?

  • Mississippi Market on West 7th still has some at the front of the store past the check out counters.  They have the little kit with the jar lifter, magnetic  lid wand and a couple other things I'm sure I'm forgetting.  They also have packs of jars with lids.  If the person lives near you, they could try the hardware store by JT's on Robert St.  It seems like they always have a little of everything.

  • I usually get most of my stuff at walmart or fleet farm

  • I saw canning supplies at Fleet Farm.  I haven't been there in a while and I didn't look too closely to see if there was a kit.

  • Menards also carried them year round.
  • What's in a kit?  I know I've seen sets of lids and jars at Cub as well, even in the winter.

usually it's a wide mouth funnel, lid lifter, jar lifter, bubble remover and a thing to help screw on the lids when the jars are hot. Sometimes they come with a ladle too.

lids and jars don't usually come in the kit, those are usually separate, as are the canners themselves.
