Mini-moon

We just planned Thanksgiving weekend away in Napa! ?I'm so excited :) ?

When we got married back in August, we got married in Maine, and then flew right back here to San Diego to start work and school again, so we didn't do a honeymoon. ?We are hoping to go down to Mexico when we have a week off in March, but we've really wanted some time away together. ?

We'd discussed the idea of a weekend away, but we didn't think we could find the time because H works Sun - Thurs, and I work Mon - Fri. ?But then we realized that this weekend will work. ?We were planning on having our first married thanksgiving be just the 2 of us, so now we're going to spend Thursday driving up to Napa, and then stay in a bed-and-breakfast there until Saturday, when we'll drive back home so he can go to work on Sunday. ?

Our first married weekend away together- I'm so excited! ?Has anyone else taken a little trip like this??

  • I live in NorCal!  Napa winery area is so fun!  In fact all California wine country areas are frankly wonderful.  If you're renting a car, Sonoma offers a lot of wineries with free tasting, or cheap tasting.  Many wineries make you pay for a tasting in Napa.

FYI, IMO, downtown Napa is not particularly great, surprisingly, for such an affluent area, so I'd shop in Calistoga, or Yountville for quaint/boutique shopping.  Better yet, hit up the Napa Valley Outlets to get super discounts on designer stuff.

Yountville area offers some reallly high-end French dining: The French Laundry is a very famous restaurant.  It also costs an arm and a leg, but you may want to look into if you're splurging. **READ: Major splurge**

Again, if you're renting a car, Lake Berryessa is a beautiful lake in the region.  You can hike, or bike there.

Also, you will find awesome spas in Calistoga and Napa, the Calistoga ones are sort of "known" for mud baths and hot springs.

Hope you like it, truly, there is a world of relaxing ahead for you and your DH!

  • You probably don't want to know this, but you influenced my dream last night.  I was looking at a map of Napa and planning a walking tour route.

    Weird.

    P.S  Have a FANTASTIC time.
