Let's talk celebrity gossip: Eva Longoria's divorce

Yes, I know, none of us pay attention to celebrities and we're all above all that crap.

So. I was surprised to hear Eva Longoria and Tony Parker are getting divorced. They haven't been married very long at all, have they?

  • I was sad to hear it. But it seems like he's a cheating scumbag, and she's telling all. I feel bad for her. I hope she finds a man to worship her...and perhaps stay faithful for, you know, a few years at least. Jerkwad.

  • Yes, I'm soooo above all the gossip...  Confused

They've only been married a few years - I think they got married on 7/7/07.

I can't decide if Hollywood/professional sports is just rife with marital infidelity, more so than the rest of the world; or if we just hear about it more because they're famous.

  • I noticed it when I was reading about something on a British news website (no it wasn't about Prince William though I did see that, too). It's too bad but I'm not a big Eva Longoria/Desperate Housewives fan. It is incredibly rare that pro athletes don't cheat because they know they can get away with it. I was more surprised by Courtney Cox and David Arquette because they've been together so long and seem more down to earth.
  • I don't necessarily think that the length of time they've been married has any real significance, since some celebrity couples are together for a long time before marriage and others get married very quickly- that makes a bigger difference to me.  But Eva Longoria and Tony Parker were one of those cutesy couples that seemed soooo in love... so maybe it was all for the public, or maybe it was real, but either way, he's a douchebag if he was cheating on her all that time.

I think it's a combination of the fact that there's more attention on them and that they have opposite schedules of each other. I think it would be hard if you only get to see each other for 24 hours every 2 weeks or so.

Don't ask me why that stuck in my mind... but it did. I swear, I'm not a psycho :)

I tend to agree with this. Money + fame + time away on the road + groupies who often settle for just bragging rights = not an ideal situation for a marriage.

I think it would be an incredible strain to be in a relationship in the public eye. A lot of "regular" couples have opposite schedules and while it's difficult, many can make it work. Several ladies here are in that situation, including me. I think the reason more pro-athletes and other male celebrities cheat is really because they can get away with it. Society expects it and therefore, to some degree, accepts it. I heard an interview with a former pro baseball player who said that of the hundreds of players he knew, only one was faithful to his wife. Those are some terrible odds.

True. I still think the schedule strains the relationship more than the non-celebrity couple. They are often in different times zones. And I know I've seen some of you who have opposite schedules talk about how hard it can be, so I'm sure it's just as hard, if not harder, for a celebrity. Their work hours can be totally opposite for months at a time. Also, they often have really attractive co-workers (or groupies as you've mentioned) in similar situations which probably makes cheating a bigger temptation.

I do think celebs cheat more than non-celebs, but I also think it's easier for them to get caught. More people are watching them.

  • I know it's stupid but my first thought was- seriously? Who would cheat when you're married to Eva Longoria?! Clearly it's not about how good your wife looks or how nice she is but, that was my thought. The rumor my co-worker was telling me about was that it was with one of his teammate's wives. Extra gross.

  • Aw really? I've been out of the loop, but how sad. Dislike (that seemingly happy couples dissolve... this post is the extent I know about their circumstances).

I was sad about CC and DA too but when I look at her plastic surgery face these days, I have to say, she must have some serious issues.

  • Just as there are few male celebrities that don't cheat, there are few female celebrities that don't have plastic surgery. Esp those who continue to be constantly in the media held up as attractive women when they get to be C.C. age. Some are more noticeable than others, of course. It's sad that women aren't allowed to age with dignity, naturally, in Hollywood. Celebrities do have more people watching them than the average citizen but they also have an army of P.R. people hired to protect their reputations (ie: cover up affairs). I think there are probably far more affairs than come out in the media but like with Tiger Woods, eventually, those who are chronic about it do get caught.

sad but true .. allegedly the 'other' woman was his former teammater brent barry's wife (for us that grew up in the bay area - east bay specifically, brent barry is former warriors legend rick barry's kid). apparently the barrys were going through a rough patch and she reached out to tony BAD BAD BAD idea for her to do that .. even worse for tony NOT to tell her NO NO NO!
