Valentine's Weekend Getaway
i want to surprise the hubby and plan a trip to Chicago. I need all the advice and help I can get. So far I am considering taking the Megabus ... any opinions on Mega Bus...
What part of town should we stay in ... any suggestions on hotels. Thanks ladies.

H and I stayed here a while back. It's amazing, and the price isn't bad at all for what you get. It's about a 30 minute drive to Chicago from there.
We took the MegaBus on our honeymoon and loved it! No problems at all. We brought a small cooler and had snacks and drinks. It was so much fun.
Book your tickets early to get the cheapest rate. We stayed at Hotel Felix and loved it, search now for cheap rates! Have fun!
We had a romantic dinner at The Signature Room at The Hancock Building, definitely recommend it.
We have a long weekend to Chicago coming up Dec. 9-12. We are taking the MegaBus, which I have heard good things about. I agree with pp - book as early as you can! I paid $40 TOTAL for 2 people both ways. Now when I check it, it's twice that (which actually is still a good deal).
We did our hotel through Hotwire, and got Hotel Indigo in the Gold Coast area. It's 3.5 stars and we got it for $65 a night. It's got really great reviews on Tripadvisor, so I'm excited. I've heard the Gold Coast/Water Tower area as well as the Streeterville area are best for weekends in Chicago. I was told to stay away from the Loop, as there is not much to do there on the weekends.
I know while we're there, we are going to have a drink in the lounge in the Hancock tower (I think it's the 94th floor), go to a show at Second City, and go to a Bulls game.
I'll try to remember to report back on the things we did when we return.
I took megabus. It was great to Chicago. On the way back it was a tiny bus with tiny seats that was packed full. It was an awful ride in. It was the Sunday night bus from Chicago to Cincinnati. Avoid that one if you can because it seems to be really popular and uncomfortable.
Oh..and the bus to get us from Cincinnati in the beginning was about 4 hours late (supposed to pick us up around 1 am, didn't arrive until 6). They never called or sent to an email to let us know so make sure you get the number before you wait for the bus in case they are late. It was hard to find a number that wasn't the generic 1800 number that actually allowed us to talk to a person.
