Is anyone going out early on Black Friday?

I just was wondering if any of you had plans to go out way early on friday. My mom, sis, and I did last year(FYI: Do not go and stand in line when you are 7 months pregnant.), but I'm not sure if I want to this year, especially because I may have to take TJ since DH may have to work. Would you brave it out with any of your kids?

Re: Is anyone going out early on Black Friday?

  • I'm going. I love it. I would never go out on BF with a small kid though. The stores are just too congested and loud, it'd be like a nightmare waiting to happen for me and my kids. But every kid is different and yours might do just fine. :o)

  • We took my nephew when he was 6 months old and it was pretty awful. He was in his stroller and people kept running in to it.

  • BF isn't really my thing, but I couldn't imagine taking J out for it, I think it would be miserable.
  • i'm working (come see me at kohl's on airport....i'll be there at 3am!   lol).

i've seen people bring kids of all ages....from newborn, toddlers, tweens, teenagers, etc....and i always feel bad for the little ones in strollers.  1) it's way to early   2)there is way too many physcho people who don't pay attention and run into the stroller.

    Kris....I'm finally a Mrs! 10/11/08
  • Thats what I'm thinking, that I should probably leave him, but if DH is working and I want to go out, I really do not have a choice. We were at kohls last year(I bought toys for TJ before he was born lol) so I'd like to go there again. It was a madhouse though and we had to stand in line FOREVER. I got some great deals though!

  • I plan on going and DH is going to stay home (or at my mom's) with A.  I would never, ever take A out on BF (at least not in the morning).  People are nuts.  It is packed and people just do not care. Look at the people who have been killed before and a small child can't protect itself.  It is just not worth the savings to me to put A in danger.  Heck, if it is really bad, I won't even stay/go to that store.
  • Davis is going home with my mom Thanksgiving night so DH and I can go to BF.  We wouldn't even consider taking him, it would be awful for him and us.  No way, if I didn't have someone to watch him I just wouldn't go.  People are just to insane.  It is hard enough to shop sometimes with Davis just on a normal day, LOL.

  • Last year at kmart someone had their sleeping toddler under a bunch of socks and underware.  haha it was kinda funny
  • Still debating going, but I'd never take LO.

I will say I hit up JCP last year about 6 am and it wasn't crowded at all, it was eerie.

I went when I was 8 mos. pregnant with Alex, but I'm feeling a little more pooped this time around so I might bail on going out, which makes me sad.

  • Yup me and my mom are going out. Ive gone every year with her since I was 9 or 10. She used to take me out when I was little but I doubt it was as crazy and insane as it is now.

  • I used to go out, but then I discovered that you can get the same deals online + free shipping from the comfort of your own couch :)  Ever since I do not venture out anymore unless it's very early to the mall, no one goes to the mall at 6AM when they open, it's usually pretty dead til about 7:30-8:00.  I like to run in, get the clothing deals, and get out before the crazy starts!  Although last year I went to Fallen Timbers around 5PM and it was not busy at all, it was like normal mall traffic.

I definitely would never take my kids...not until they are old enough to "fend for themselves".  People get crazy and I'm not willing to get crazy back and set that kind of example for my 5 year old...and there's no way I'd try to take a stroller, I seriously doubt that people would pay any attention to it in the mad rush.  I nearly got my hand ripped off by an 80 year old man at Home Depot who was trying to grab the same shopping cart I was one year!

  • We will be going out for sure.  I don't have any kids, but I definitely would not bring any of them Black Friday shopping.  People can get nuts! Plus it is supposed to be super cold and rainy that morning.
