Matt comes into the kitchen and says "Hey Hun, I just got some email from you full of a bunch of crazy letters and talking about an iPod or something."
It turns out that my former Gmail account (it sends from my married name somehow but the address itself is my maiden name) was spamming everyone it could get ahold of. Somehow it even managed to send three helpdesk ticket requests at work-- on a system that was implemented long after I stopped using that address and which is behind a university login (which is a completely different username and password).
I am pissed. Google is investigating on the Gmail end, and if they ever get it straightened out, I'm just going to go delete the account. But I have a feeling that this has something to do with my work network (otherwise how could it have hacked in to the university intranet?), so I notified campus IT, too. We'll see if those morons can figure it out.
Re: What a way to start my day off
My big concern is because it was forwarding to my current account and I had the two linked so I could be logged into my current address but still send "from" the old one. I just went into my current account and deleted the connection.
I don't remember if I ever changed the last name on the old account or not. I hope I did and that my new one is safe, but I changed the password, anyway.
Ooo that sucks! I hope they get it fixed soon. Right after we got married my MSN live account got hacked. They kept sending out emails about viagra and cialis to everyone in my address book. I ended up just deleting it and making a new one. That's one of the reasons my name changed on here from the knot.
