Re: Negotiation de Salary?
Is this with a new company, or you want to re-negotiate with a company you've been with for a while? I'm really bad at this, but feel like it's a lot easier if it's a new company other than the one I've been with.
Have your responsibilities increased? How long has it been since your last promotion/raise?

Hmmm... That's a tough one. I'm not sure what industry you're in and what is common for promotion times. I work in biotech and here it's pretty much 2 years min before you get promoted, so 7 months doesn't seem like that long to me.
BUT...if you have had a dramatic change in your responsibilities and working hours, I think it's worth it to at least try. Were you told about the possibility of increased work load and hours when you took the job? If not, I would definitely use that as your bargaining chip. I would sit down and figure out the % increase is for time traveling, % increase for hours worked, % increase spent with clients, etc. and present it that way.
So something like, "I am spending 15% more time traveling, working 20% more hours and meeting with clients on a weekly basis. My original job description and salary didn't include these responsibilities. I'm happy to continue with all of this, but is it possible to revisit my compensation package and adjust it up by a percentage that considers the extra effort that I've been putting in?"
And then I would come up with a % of your salary that you feel would compensate you appropriately for your increased work and start the negotiation from there. Just be careful not to totally overshoot, or they may think you're being ridiculous. Maybe also talk to others in your office and find out what a "typical" % increase for raises is like at the company before you approach them.
I can't really give any advice because I've never been in this position. On the on hand, it seems like you deserve something since your responsibilities have increased quite a bit, but on the other, it seems odd since you haven't been there that long.
I'd suggest posting this on the 9 to 5 board, starting with your second post (the details) and then asking about the salary negotiation. That board is good with things like interviews, resumes, etc.
Are you going to initiate the talks or do you have an annual review coming up?
Have you been participating in annual reviews?
Have you documented your increases in responsibilities and any money saving, profit earning programs/process you were responsible for?
I would say start there - quantify and document your increased value to them so it is clear cut why it is they need to compensate you for it.
