South Bay - Lunch/Restaurant Faves

Hey Ladies,

DH and I are having lunch with my brother and his gf (meeting her for the first time) on Friday. My bro wants me to pick the spot and I'm totally drawing a blank.

I'd prefer to stay away from malls or major shopping (as it is this Friday). (Everything I keep thinking of is in Santana Row or near Valley Fair.)

We are all casual, easy going people. What are your favorite lunch spots. Or just what are your favorite restaurants in the area.

To be more geographically specific...we'll be staying in Santa Clara, but we are of course willing to go anywhere in the area.

TIA

  • Campbell! I LOVE Aqui's and Sonoma Chicken Coop, Aquis more. I crave it when I'm not in SJ.

There is also one in downtown WG.

Willow Street Pizza is also yummalicious, not sure exactly where it is, somewhere in Willow Glen.

Great ideas. If you are in Santa Clara, I would recommend Sara's Kitchen. It looks like a hole in the wall but the food is AWESOME. Not really on the healthy side but good nonetheless.

If you are in the mood for sushi, I def. recommend Sushi Zone in Campbell (off of San Tomas Aquino Rd & Campbell Ave). It is in the same shopping center as a Nob Hill, Big 5, and Walgreens. The place is reasonably priced and there rolls are good, good, good.

  • Opa.  There's one in downtown Willow Glen and one in downtown Los Gatos.  Yummy greek food.
  • A couple of super casual, but super super yummy is Falafel's Drive-In and Dia De Pesca (fish tacos and such - I actually don't get the fish, but I've heard it's great). Both are near valley fair, but not in the mall. Both are super super good. DDP only takes cash.

Oh yah, I forgot about that place That place is divine!

There is Bill's Cafe as well. There is one in WG, one in SJ off of Bascom (near DDP) and one off of the Alameda near 880.

  • I really like Twist Cafe in downton Campbell for lunch. There's also a place on Union in San Jose right on the Campbell border in a little strip mall called Steps of India that is super yummy if you like Indian food...and for good mexican food check out Adelita's on Curtner in Cambrian also right at the Campbell boarder. They just expanded and it's a nice place to grab lunch.

Hmmmm now I'm getting hungry. Maybe I'll take the kiddos out to lunch! :oP

  • These are great ideas ladies...thank you all so much. I'm hungry now too...and my leftovers don't measure up to all the yumminess in this post.

  • I just moved here so my recs are very limited but there is a cool Cajun place in downtown SJ called The Poorhouse Bistro. It's very close to SJ CalTrain if you didn't want to drive but they also have a parking lot. They also have a ramp if wheelchairs and/or strollers are involved. Have a good time!
