can I talk about Christmas on here?
Hey! So, this time of year is super busy because I have like 3 birthdays between now and Christmas, not to mention the usual pre-Christmas chaos. DH and I are possibly going to be in a financial bind as we may possibly be both laid off after christmas.Boo!
Anyways, so I am trying to spend less this year by making gifts instead. Any ideas?

Re: can I talk about Christmas on here?
I had gotten a brownie mix like this once and it was a nice touching gift that they put together the ingredients for me to enjoy.
Are you crafty at all?? Do you sew? There are many things going through my head you could do, as I'm trying to cut back this year too. pm me if you need any help!
Happy Easter

I do a Christmas cookie/treat exchange each year with some girl friends. You bake ten dozen of whatever it is you like, and then exchange with 9 other girls. You end up with ten dozen different treats that you can mix and give as gifts to coworkers, friends, and family.
It works really well to fill in the gaps for all those people you are not sure whether you should get them a gift or not, and works as a good hostess gift as well during the holidays.
I've done this before and it went over really well. Or just try and limit the number of gifts you give out to people if you can.
The year that we went cheap was our first year as homeowners. What we did that year was to give either crafty gifts or home made items. Here is a few of the items that we gave to family and friends.
- Layered mason jars. Usually it is cookie or brownie receipes, you can find lots of them online and then attach the receipe card to the mason jar with a festive ribbon.
- I love scrapbooking so I did a 12 x 12 page for my dad showing pictures from when I was little, my college grad, and wedding day. He loved it so much he had it up on the wall before all the gifts were unrapped.
- For his family we got our pictures done at Sears, and gave them a nice picture of us in a nice frame.
- For his sister I usually just add in a card "Good for one girls day, includes lunch and a movie of your picking". This way it moves the money burden to later on.
- And for the candy or sweet lovers, we just filled mason jars, or other decorative containers with various candy, usually their favourites, from the bulk food store.
