(BR) Re-Post... PIP 7w2d

sorry for the post drama girls...

in case you missed my original post and are interested, I was just following up to the comment I made in this morning's post about how I was trying to call my doc to let them know about some (severe) cramping I had Sat night.  I had zero bleeding so I was trying to stay positive, but yesterday and today I continued to have some mild cramping - mainly on my left side. I was starting to fear maybe it was cyst or who knows...

I just wanted to let my doc know and let them make the call if they wanted to see me before my 1st appt on 12/1.  They had me come in.  Everything looks and feels good, I have a retroverted uterus, but that shouldn't cause any problems other than some pressure.

After the pelvic exam, I had a quick vaginal u/s and got to see the heart beat.  They also said I'm measuring right on schedule of my LMP.  Due date 7/9/11

Here's my souvenior of the day...

  • Look at your little one all cozy in there. It's crazy how much they change in a few weeks, but by your 12 week appointment it will look so much more like a baby. So exciting!

  • Cool Congratulations.
  • Oh, how excited! What a lovely souvenir. It is crazy how fast they grow in that oven.

  • Glad to hear that you and LO are doing well. I remember having some pain in the first trimester. Your body is going through a lot of changes and making room. Don't ever be afraid to call your OB and bug them. That is what they are there for.
  • Glad you and peanut Ehayes are okay!

  • Wow, Erinn! that is so exciting!

I'm sort of jealous... seeing that I'm going with a midwife, I won't get an u/s til much later on, probably around 20 weeks to find out the sex. I bet I could request one, but midwifes generally only do them when there could be a problem, as far as I know.

I think I'll only really them at my 8wk appt (next wk) which is "complimentary" since they use that to date the pregnancy and make sure everything is progressing as it should.  Then I believe they do another at 11 wks for the NT scan and the triple screen (I could have my timing off on these someone who's gone through could chime in), and then my final at 20.  I don't think they'll do more unless there is cause for concern, either.  Which I understand and am cool with.

I think they just wanted to check to today to make sure there were any cysts or something other than growing pains, that were causing me to cramp.

.. but it was exciting to see the little heart beating and get some peace of mind.

  • I missed your other post, but glad to hear everything is OK!  I had some bleeding early on and I know what kind of panic that brings on.  Cute baby you have there :)
  • My pregnancy as you know was not normal, but I did get ultrasounds a 6,7, and 8 weeks and then again at 11weeks for the NT scan. The next scan for "normal" pregnancies is at 20weeks. After that I don't know.

  • Thanks so much everyone... it's prob the hormones, but I'm tearing up just reading your responses,

Raynes... I referred to it as a blob too, LOL.  We can't call it (he/she/the baby/the fetus - whatever is the right pronoun) "peanut" since that's Penny's not so official name.  I think she actually responds better to Peanut... Peanutty.. Penn.. and Penn Penn, over "Penny".

We also won't use "bean" since thats what BIL referred to our neice and they still call her that.  Plus, I just want something different.  The pups nicknames usually come at random and just stick.  Pete's been trying to call it "the monkey", buttt I don't know if thats going to stick ;)   LOL

I can't wait till you get a (baby) baby bump... you're going to be so freaking cute!

  • So glad to hear everything is great, and your little peanut is so damn cute.  FYI -- I LOVE the nickname peanut, that is what I still call Christian to this day.  I agree you are going to have the cutest baby bump!

I have nicknames for my nieces and my cousin's little girls - I just blurt something out during the pregnancy and somehow, it sticks. One of them is "nugget" - because her ultrasound pic early on looked a bit like a chicken nugget (now she's so chubby, it looks like she only eats chicken nuggets so it still fits).

Another is "muffin" (short for muffin of love), which works because he/she's "in the oven"

it's a shame that you call Penny peanut because that would be so cute for the baby, with P and your initials - maybe another PE___ word? pear? haha

Haha this is what I called it for the first few wks, now I just kinda change the fruit... last week was a pea, this week is a blueberry... when it gets bigger I might go back to nugget... if the monkey thing doesn't warm up...

  • Im late, as always but SO excited for you Erinn! I love the lil u/s pic! So cute.

FWIW I also have a retroverted uterus. I had some cramping in the begining but it didnt really effect me the rest of the pregnancy. Hopefully you have the same.
