Grr.

I don't have health insurance.  It was a glitch in the system that I discovered a week ago when trying to pick up prescriptions, and it was supposedly fixed.  Except when I went to get reimbursed for the scrip I paid full-price for and get the scrip that I didn't pick up because it was too expensive and not immediately necessary, turns out it wasn't fixed.

I've been sending e-mails, leaving voicemails, and getting nothing.  It sucks that this happened so close to a holiday but this was 'fixed' last Tuesday, so WTF.  I went to talk to the coordinator for my program and see if she had any insight on someone else I could talk to and she said, 'Don't get sick.'

Re: Grr.

  • Well, that's a pretty diick comment.  Maybe it's an ongoing condition, or maybe it's BC or maybe it's none of your damn business.  I probably would have made a smart azz comment like that back to her.

Sorry, dude, that blows.  Hopefully they'll get it fixed soon for ya.

  • Yeah I thought that was pretty ridiculous.  As a matter of fact, one of them was BC, and the other is for an ongoing condition.  Who the hell picks up prescriptions from the pharmacy when they DON'T need them?

It's not her fault that it's messed up, but ugh.  And the lady who 'fixed' it, when I called her a week ago, asked, "Well do you NEED insurance?"

    FML.

Edit: This calls for some retail therapy, I think.  I'm putting stuff on my Express wishlist, to buy Thursday for 30% off.

  • I totally know how you feel. I don't have health insurance either. I can't wait to get a job so that I can have it again.
  • Oh I feel your pain. I had something like happen to me earlier this year when I started back at the school system and for whatever reason, my health insurance never kicked in. Found that out about 2 weeks before the wedding. Fun stuff.

Hope they figure it out soon and knocking on wood you don't get sick!

  • Oh that sucks!  If I could loan you my health insurance I would.  I have it but rarely use it.

  • Hear ya! Toby's won't put me on until Jan 1. I've been without for a year!
  • I would have coughed in her face and told her not to get sick!

  • That is ridiculous!! I know most carriers have a three day turnaround between clearing something up with the carrier and the information being transmitted to the pharmaceutical department but even then they usually have a little more empathy.

I work in insurance (mostly CA), but if there's anything I can do to help, please let me know.

Thanks, I really appreciate the offer :)  I should point out that this wasn't someone at the insurance office, it was someone from the Benefits office at my university.

I think that it finally went through, so we're going to go back to the pharmacy and try again (third time's a charm, right?).
