Textured tole floors

I have textured tile flooring instead of a completely flat surface Besides scrubbing with a brush on my hands and knees, are there any other ways to get it cleaned? Would a steam mop help or am I doomed?

Re: Textured tole floors

  • I assume you mean something like a natural slate floor where there are large bumps and ridges... not some kind of odd tile that's like walking on sand?

If so, you should be able to use a mop with fingers. That way you can work back and forth and the fingers will get down in the ridges. I just spray hot water on the floor with a spray bottle and move around the floor with a mop. I have this one (it's just a cheap Quickie mop set):

It's just a metal pole and the microfiber pad can be removed to be washed. I bought a few extra pads... some for sweeping and some for mopping since my floors are all various tile and hardwoods. I picked it up at my local grocery store, I have less than $20 in the whole thing (pole and three mop pads).

  • I use steam cleaner. Works really good on all tile and keeps grout cleaner also.  You could also try something like a Hoover Floormate which has brushed on it to clean hard surface floors and then sucks up everything like a carpet cleaner.

  • I like my Hoover Floormate for my tile floors. I love that it cleans so well and dries really fast.
