Well.

I deleted our wedding website today.. and our thank you notes are officially out the door.

After the relief, I sort of felt a twinge of sadness now that it's 100% over & done.

Anyone else?

But, our BFF couple (who were also both in our wedding) just got engaged this past weekend (we were there - it was awesome) and asked us to be in their wedding next October. Yay!

Re: Well.

  • Yeah, I paid like $10 for our website so that we could have a customized URL.  I was a bit sad when it expired.  It didn't seem like it could all possibly be over.

I still can't bring myself to delete all of my wedding files and pics and ideas off my computer.

What I am so effing ready to get rid of is the pile of wedding crap in the middle of my living room floor.  I wish someone would just buy the crap already!

  • It is a little bittersweet.  I'm glad to be putting my life back to normal, getting rid of wedding stuff and whatnot, but it seems strange that it's over.  I have deleted most of the files off of our computers, and it's with a little twinge of sadness.  I don't miss a lot of things about planning, but there was so much excitement and anticipation!

It's nice that you get to share with your friend, though Stef - I'm sure she'll ask you a bunch of questions since you just went through the planning process, and it will be fun to be in a wedding without worrying about your own!

I hear ya on this one, Rachel!  I've been heavily marketing my wedding stuff via a Weebly website I made myself, and I've sold a few little things, but I still have plenty of stuff covering our guest bed!

  • Is it awful I just basically threw most stuff out (or told the reception venue to) and that my gown is still hanging in my parents closet uncovered, uncleaned with a dustbunny covered, black train?

    Whoops.

I am right there with ya. I have fallen off the "trying to sell" bandwagon with the upcoming holidays, but I still have quite a large pile in my craft room that I would like to magically disappear.

As far as the whole 'being over' aspect, I am sorta glad, but I am having a hard time not jumping right into the next thing we are 'supposed' to do... have babies. Hubs isn't really ready, and I would really like a full-time job, so I KNOW we should wait, but I'm so ready for the next planning stage in my life. :)

  • I haven't deleted anything yet. We know a lot of people that are getting married next year and I keep telling myself that everything will be helpful for them. Although our external died right after the wedding and that had most of my wedding inspiration on it (including our guest list) so it is probably gone for good.
  • I haven't even deleted my wedding website. I totally forgot about it. I only sold my aisle runner so far. I can't part with my dress or any of my accessories, even though I said I would. ugh I'm terrible.

  • I didn't delete our wedding website, I guess I should.

I got rid of most extraneous wedding stuff and packed away what I was saving. All thank yous have been out for a while.

    Ta ta wedding!

  • I will probably not part with my wedding binder.

  • I don't plan on deleting anything.  Who knows, maybe I'll have a change of heart in 6 months or a year.

My attempts to sell my wedding stuff have stopped since I have been unsuccessful.  After the wedding I am helping with in Jan, I'll probably give it another try.

  • I'm bummed to hear everyone is having sucha hard time selling their leftover stuff, since I just started trying!  We aren't trying to sell too much, but when it was cheaper to buy tablecloths than rent, we definitely went that route.

I hadn't even thought about deleting our wedding website, but I guess that should be done!

  • Besides thank yous (which are done tonight). I am done with wedding!

I never expected to have so much trouble selling wedding stuff either.  I've been trying unsuccessfully to sell stuff on TK for about a month now.  I only got rid of 5 things.  I had several people e-mailing me asking if stuff was still available.  I told them yes and then never heard from them again.

I finally gave up on TK and put them up on Craigslist this week.  I don't wanna deal with having to ship them, so I didn't try Trash to Treasure board or anything like that.

I got a hopeful reply yesterday - a girl wanting like 6 things.  I hope this one goes through.  I'm sick of all the crap staring me in the face, taking up the living room floor!

  • Buying stuff on TK was hit-or-miss, so I imagine selling stuff would be too.  I had one girl totally bail on me - I drove 45 minutes away to meet her and she later told me she was there and didn't see me, which is a total lie, plus I gave her my cell number.  Then she tried to guilt-trip me into still buying stuff from her.  Other people simply never contacted me back, or were unwilling to compromise on meeting me anywhere.  I was willing to go out of my way, but seriously don't post on the Baltimore board if you're not willing to come to the city, ever, and you expect me to drive an hour or more to your house.

I also had a really good experience, though in hindsight I think I overpaid, and I wound up not using the items. Still, she was very nice and good to work with.

  • Dude, that sucks!  I would have been piiiiiiiised if I'd driven that far for nothing!  I only bought a few things, but generally had good people willing to work with me.  The only one that did suck was having to drive to the other side of B-more for a cake stand that the girl didn't want to meet me for.  I'm hoping for that reason that CL will work out better since people will be looking in the area they live and not a generic "Baltimore" board that includes like 3/4 of the state of MD and some of DE.
