Turkey

When do you start defrosting a turkey in order to be able to eat it Thanksgiving night?

Re: Turkey

  • I put mine in the fridge Thursday night, but it's over 15 lbs, we're eating it on Friday, and I have no idea what I'm doing.

There should be guidelines on the package. I've heard 5 hours for every pound or something similar, I think. I'm paranoid because it seems to take DAYS for chicken breasts to thaw in our fridge.

  • We haven't actually gotten it yet.  Embarrassed  I think last time, we had to run it under the faucet forever to speed up the process.  I'm hoping that if we get it tomorrow after work, it will have time to defrost.  We won't be getting a big one or anything since it's just the two of us

  • Yeah, I think if you get just a small breast or something similar, you should be okay.
  • Yeahhhhh........I have no clue.  I'd turn to my old pal Google for help with that one.

  • if you are picking it up tomorrow after work i would just leave it in the fridge if its not totally frozen already, if it is. I would def leave it out overnight.
