It wasn't just me. Re:theft.
The police just came to my work. He said that they've had 5-7 other calls that stuff was stolen out of other peoples cars in my neighborhood.
He dusted my car and said he got a few prints off it, probably mine with my luck.
They are going to come out later and dust Chris' truck. He also said they will have patrols in the area since this was not just a one car kind of thing.
In a way I'm relieved it wasn't just me- but of course I wouldn't want anyone else to go through that nasty feeling. But I feel better that they won't be back to get into the house -esp since my garage door opener was still in my car.
Re: It wasn't just me. Re:theft.
This would make me feel better, too. I'm glad the police are being proactive.
I am really glad, though, that you, Chris and your dogs are okay.
Thanks. I can't believe the dogs didn't bark. These scum bags must have been SUPAH quiet, bc the dogs bark at EVERYTHING!
I guess my lesson is learned. I won't leave anything in my car, and I'll lock it.
I really do normally lock it. I guess last night just was an unlucky night.
I am also glad the police are being proactive. I would feel even worse if they just wrote it off like yah whatever it's less then $600 worth of stuff.
That would make me feel a little better too.
I can't believe they dusted for prints. That's great. Maybe they'll catch them. My car was broken into a long time ago & I had a very clear print on my window. The police laughed at me when I suggested they dust.
You could have locked your car and they still could have gotten in it swiftly and 'supa' quietly.
One day I was walking the dog and I walked by a house where the owners came out and BAM! their car was broken into. I then kept walking and walked past another house where the owners walked out and BAM! their car was broken into. Both were locked. Both owners walked in the house for a brief second. I saw no one suspicious out.
These bastards are good. If they walk into your garage though, it immediately becomes burglary of a dwelling and the charge/punishment is MUCH worse - like many years in prison worse.

Thats what happened when my car was broken into, it was multiple cars in the area, they were wearing gloves and they only broke into cars with the doors unlocked.
Thankfully I had nothing in my car at the time...
Sorry you had to deal with this and I definitely know how you feel. I've had my car broken into 2x and my house too!
Burglary of a dwelling is a second degree felony punishable by up to 15 years. Burglary of a conveyance is a third degree punishable by up to 5. Glad it was just your car, not your house, for both you and the criminal. Sorry you're dealing with this
