WDYT Re: T-day & cooking, etc

I was originally going to do most of the cooking- but now H is (1. bc he really wants to, 2. bc my mother will freak if I do all of the cooking instead of relaxing bc of being pg...it's like I still can do stuff!! and 3...well, the thought of touching the turkey makes me gag).

So, I am a control freak. I still need to do some stuff. Without making me gag. So I was thinking I will make 2 pies today (pumpkin and cheesecake, my mother is bringing pecan), but together the cheese torta (appetizer) and the butternut squash soup I make...My sister is bringing a green veg and an appetizer. My sis's MIL is bringing a fruit plate...my moms cousin is bringing I think drinks. We'll have about 14 ppl. 13 eaters- 1 is a 1 year old and won't be eating toooo much (yeah, originally we were having 10...hmph).

Which leaves all the bigger things for tomorrow (except for turkey brining which H is doing tonight): turkey, potatoes, stuffing (he is making cornbread, but all i want is regular, so i bought an easy bag of pepperidge farm that we could do) he's also doing the cranberries and sweet potatoes...we also need spinach. I love H, but he is kind of slow with the cooking. And he is assuming he'll just need 3-4 hours for everything...I beg to differ...but whatever...

Two questions: So should I just let him do all the cooking tomorrow which is really hard for me, or should i at least cut stuff and prep stuff if I can stomach it? We typically do it all by scratch if that sways your opinion. I'm thinking I can handle the potatoes...if he lets me. Second question, besides what I mentioned I would do today (soup, app, pies) is there anything else I should prep today?

Signed, must let go of control.

  • I would let him make the turkey and the trimmings and you bake. Its an easy way for to be in the kitchen and keep an eye on everything.
  • if you're able to help with the prep work it'll definitely move things along. everything will be great!

This. If you're feeling up to chopping though, you could certainly do that kind of stuff. Be his sous chef, I'm sure he'd love that.

  • I would do as much as I possibly could before there are witnesses in the house. DH would be sworn to secrecy.

This.  It's something I would do as well.  And if he really thinks he only needs 3-4 hours, he's going to need as much help as you can give him.  Do everything tonight that you possibly can.
