Favorite dish @ Thanksgiving dinner?

I know I could live without the turkey!  I love all the side dishes but my favorite is probably stuffing.  I have an excellent recipe that I'm taking this year, and I can't wait!

How about you?

Re: Favorite dish @ Thanksgiving dinner?

  • Can I share your stuffing?

Or really, I could just take all of it off your hands...

    I am a stuffing FREAK!

The people around me have no idea the level of self-restraint it takes for me not to just grab the casserole dish and walk away.

  • I love mashed potatoes and gravy or sweet potato casserole.

  • Depends which family I'm celebrating with.

If it's my family, I'm all about the turkey with brown gravy, green beans, and mashed potatoes.

If it's with the in-laws, which this year will be, it's all about dessert. Pumpkin pie! MMM...I could seriously just eat the whole thing myself. SIL also makes a sweet potato casserole that is delicious. I definitely married into a family of gourmet chefs. They are all fantastic cooks.

  • I could cover my plate with stuffing and mashed potatoes, drown it all in gravy, eat nothing else the whole day and be a very very happy girl. It's the one day that I totally let myself be a carb junkie.

  • If my mom or H makes any of the food, I will eat all of it, and do every year!  They are both excellent cooks and I have yet to dislike anything that either of them makes.

If H's mom cooks anything for any meal, any time of the year, I won't eat much of it at all b/c she is a terrible cook!  I've yet to eat anything she made that was even sub-par.  Fortunately, we don't have too many meals with them and when we do H or I will try to intervene and do as much as we can to make it semi-decent.

  • I could live without the turkey too.  But I love to have at least a tase of everything else.  I'm bringing a sweet potato/cranberry dish that is quite yummy!

  • I'm all about the carbs...stuffing, potatoes, and mac & cheese (which I'm making this year, I need to go research some new recipes for so I can go grocery shopping tonight). Turkey is just OK, and I like cranberry sauce with mine.

I'm usually a dessert fiend, but pumpkin pie is just so-so in my book. Just as well, though, because once I get through with dinner, there's no room for dessert!

  • The Turkey is probably one of my favorites!! But I love the whole meal together. The turkey, stuffing, gracy mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, beans, corn, rolls... my mouth is watering right now thinking about it!

Fortunately for me, unfortunately for my pants... I have 3 Thanksgivings to go to this year so I can't wait!

Have you made Pioneer Woman's mac & cheese?  It's so good!

I'm sorry you have to go to the grocery tonight!  I stay far far away from the grocery store at least the week before Thanksgiving!

This is me. I always make WAY too much so that I have plenty of leftovers. I'm also big into dessert, couldn't live without pie and fresh whipped cream.
