Re: So tell me...
Mine was good. We had dinner at my in-laws'. My job is always to bring appetizers, so I was trying two new ones. What a flop! I tried making ham and cheese rolls (think Red Lobster rolls with ham instead of garlic). But I didn't plan for the expanding they would do, so instead of bites, they turned into dinner rolls. Still tasted good, so not a major problem.
But then I tried to make puff pastries with gorgonzola cheese and pistachios. The recipe said it would make 25 'heaping teaspoons'. No. It made 8. And they just glopped out. It was a huge fail. So DH had to run to Remke real fast and get cream cheese and chips, and I made Skyline dip as my other snack. But everyone loves that, so it was a huge hit.
Dinner was delicious, and I ate entirely too much, as usual. But it was great hanging out with all of the family. I saw DH's grandpa, who lives in Texas, so I don't get to see him often. (Now I won't see him again until spring..
)
SIL's son was there, he's 2. He was playing with me and DH was even playing with him. That never happens. Perhaps DH will soon agree that we can have one ourselves? I'll keep my fingers crossed.
It went well. We had 3. Dh's mom's side at 10:30. About 30 people I don't know too well but it was good to see his Grandpa and cousins. My Applesauce muffins and pumpkin bread went well.
My family at 1, I made angel biscuits and it was a huge hit because every year the rolls get messed up. So dad was happy to have some homemade bread this year. We had like 16 people. And it was a blast.
Then we had Dh's dad's side at 5. About 15 people and I wasn't allowed to cook so that one was easy. We hung out with the cousins and watched the Bengals game.
We had a good one. DH and I hosted my brother's family so my nieces and nephew were here. Turkey cooked quickly and easily, DH pitched in in the cooking so we banged out the cooking pretty early. Kids (except for my 2 year old) were on their best behavior.
DH and I cleaned up the kitchen and then put up two Christmas trees and started the decorating. All in all, it was a nice holiday.
It was good! The 10k was fun, dinner was awesome, and H and I played games with my family and they weren't weird or obnoxious or embarrassing. Always good.
For real, though, we had a great time with them. H even accidentally swore in front of my very religious family and they laughed it off.
And for all who remember Scribblish from the GTG, we totally brought it and taught my family how to play. It was a huge hit. My grandma didn't play but she was cracking up at all the pictures afterwards!
The only bad thing is that we forgot the cheese ball I slaved over, so my mom had to run to Meijer to get one.
