I know a few of you are in the healthcare field but does anyone deal with insurance?
We were on COBRA, which if you dont know is basically an expensive version of union healthcare. Something got screwed up and they bounced our check. We called and asked why we arent getting covered and they told us "well we sent a letter". We never recieved the letter. Stupid mail! SO DH asked to talk to the manager and they of course told DH "hes busy. He wants you to write him a letter." Um really? So I typed up this devistating tearfelt letter asking to get back on COBRA. We have yet to hear anything.
As you all know, we are trying to get pregnant. Well now we have no insurance and we tried to go on our own. We were told that in IL, maternity isnt covered until 365 days after you start the policy. Is this true?
Basically, DH said if we dont get insurance we are going to have to wait the year to start trying. ((tear)).
How are your insurance policies with maternity? The insurance agent we talked to said that IL is one of the few states that covers maternity. Do any of you not have maternity coverage?
Is there any alternatives that I could suggest to DH ? I really dont want to wait another year to try. The metformin is giving me SOOOO many side effects. Why even be on it if we are waiting a year?!
Re: new dilemma
I deal w/ insurance, but I've never dealt w/ Cobra.. Every time we ever saw a patient in the urgent care that was on cobra it was a huge pain. That's my only experience.
Try calling COBRA back and demand to talk to a manager. How did they bounce the check? If they money wasn't in your account when you sent the check that really isn't their fault. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be unsympathetic, but they have no way of knowing whether or not the money is in your account when you sent them the check.
As far as maternity coverage- We have insurance through Chris' employer, and as far as I know there are no limitations on the maternity.
For individual policies, I'm not sure if they offer Maternity coverage.
In FL there is such a thing as pregnancy Medicaid, as far as I know, it is strictly for pregnancy related appointments/illnesses. Maybe IL has something similar.
