poll-ish: thanksgiving

1. What time do you eat dinner?

We usually eat our non-thanksgiving dinner around 6pm. So why do we have thanksgiving dinner @ 3? Its more like a late lunch since I eat lunch @2! I hate this early dinner trend, then I have to plan on something for dinner!

Re: poll-ish: thanksgiving

  • We usually eat non-Thanksgiving dinner between 5-7 and Thanksgiving dinner between 4-6 (depending on who's house it's at).
  • We ate at 1:00 yesterday  but I was so full I didn't want to eat dinner. I nibbled on some snacks last night but that was it.

  • I usually eat lunch around 12:30 and dinner around 7.

Thanksgiving dinner we usually do at either 2 or 3. I guess it works because it gives people a chance to sleep in, make food and get to their designated destination.

After filling ourselves at Thanksgiving dinner, we serve dessert around 6ish and by 8pm, I'm usually nibbling on a light snack.

It's definitely 'off' my schedule but it works for me.  :)

  • We ate at 5. We were all together talking and hanging out at 1, but didn't sit down to eat until 5. On a normal day we usually eat around 8, so it was a bit early for us but not for everyone else.
  • We were shooting for 2:30/3:00 but didn't eat until 3:30. It was perfect though. I didn't go to bed on a full stomach.

  • We always eat Thanksgiving early in my family and my IL. We ate at 4 yesterday. I think it's because you eat so much that you want it to have time to settle. Plus if anyone is driving from a distance it's better for them to finish earlier so they can get home earlier.
  • We ate around 3:30ish, then we leave the food out and snack on it later if we get hungry.  For us it makes the day seem to last longer, there is still lots of time after dinner to hang out and talk before he gets late and people need to go home. And if someone has multiple Thanksgiving dinners to go too then they still have time to go.

  • We normally eat dinner late, like at 8. We have Thanksgiving early, because people have to come from all over the LA/San Diego area, and we try to avoid the traffic. Plus there are a LOT of kids there. And we have more time to socialize.
