Hey! I was reading your blog and saw that you picked your next half at Ft Desoto. I looked it up and it looks like fun! I've never actually been to Ft Desoto so a question- when they say trail... what is it like? Hard-packed shell? After running 3 miles of the marathon on ridiculous trail- we're talkin giant rocks, hills, mulch covered sand dune- I'm not too eager to do a true trail anytime soon!
Follow me as I train for my 2nd marathon

Re: *Stingshark*
I ran this half as my first half in March of this year, the whole course was paved, no sand. We started in the North beach parking lot, ran through the lot, did a little loop, then out to the end of Ft. Desoto (where you can see the skyway bridge) and back. It was a great first half. The course is flat, flat, flat! Good course support, and pretty good "breakfast" of pasta after wards. I really enjoyed it last year!
Oh, I just went and looked @ the course description where it says recreational trails. Hm. I don't know what that means, but last year it as all paved.
The course map shows the same course as before. I think it's safe to say it's all paved trail. Its mostly on a bike trail. some running in the road, but not much.
