I did it.

Even though I said I wasn't gonna brave any stores on Black Friday, I realized I needed to go to AC Moore. I'm making these stuffed bunnies for my nephews and I forgot to buy the embroidery floss I needed when I was at Joann's on Wednesday. So I went and between the sales and a coupon, I got two rolls of wrapping paper, a big kit of embroidery floss, five t-shirts, and a bunch of beads for $38.50. Not bad. Not as good as I did at Joann's, but not bad. The store wasn't really crowded at all and I even got close parking. There were only two people ahead of me on line. I actually kinda feel bad for the stores.

Re: I did it.

  • We really need groceries because I only bought enough to get us through Thanksgiving with my family. But we came back early (last night instead of today), so what was supposed to be supper today was lunch. So, scrambled eggs and pancakes for dinner. Then I really have to buy groceries before lunch tomorrow!

ETA: anyway, I'm trying really hard not to go to any stores today. I'm sure it's not as busy now as it was this morning, but I still don't want to get out in the craziness.

  • Yeah, I hate shopping in a zoo.  I imagine the supermarkets wouldn't be quite as terrible, though, especially after Thanksgiving.

I ended up eating leftovers for lunch toda - shrimp cocktail & veggy platter.

  • I'm glad the stores weren't crazy. I refuse to step foot in one until next week!! We still have sooo much food leftover for a few days worth of dinners next week.

  • I went to Target, Kohls, and Best Buy and none of them were that bad, but then again I went at 3pm, so almost everyone was already home.

I knew I wanted to stay away from the malls, because I heard they were crazy.

  • Besides meeting my best friend for dinner and going to Walgreens to pick up canned goods for a food drive, I didn't leave the house at all. One of my friends posted a picture at our mall at midnight - and there was already a line starting to snake around it. Um, our mall sucks - and people were out in the 30 degree weather to go there?! No thanks.

I did do a lot of online shopping though - got some new flats for $9, two DVDs for $8, a CD Joe wanted for $6, and JJ and Joe got Kevin Durant jerseys [were on sale, plus free shipping]. Now, we all have KD jerseys - can't wait to take family pictures with them.

  • This makes me feel much better, b/c I'm running to AC Moore today and was very afraid.

  • AC Moore by me is ALWAYS a zoo!  Glad you did well.

  • I don't think I'm leaving the house today.  Still working on stuffed bunnies, plus soap website stuff - blogging & all that because we're running a "Cyber Monday" sale for the holidays and just added gift certificates to the website.

E, meanwhile, had to run out so he's also stopping at the pet store for me.  The cats only have dry food left, they're out of wet.  And I wanted another litter box scoop - it's a PITA to have one scoop & two boxes on two different floors of the house.  When we only lived on one floor it made more sense.

Those bunnies are pretty fun to make, and Eric had a great suggestion.  The body is really simple & generic, so I could turn them into other animals too, with a little ear & face modification.  I'm making 6 animals - I'm going to try one bunny for each nephew, plus one for E's best friend's impending child (due January) and one other animal for each of the 3 kids too - either a bear or a monkey, I'm still deciding.

I bought this on Friday on-line to replace our 20something inch not flat screen TV.   DH really wanted it and we have the money coming to pay for it.
