home remedy help

Evening ladies,

I've had a migraine for the last 4 days and ran out of Mortin this afternoon. I am in no position to drive to the drugstore for more so I was wondering if anyone has some tips or remedies I can use at home until I can get to the store. I've got an ice pack in the freezer right now, but any other advice is more than welcome.

Re: home remedy help

  • caffeine + taking extra regular pain killers. Phil takes two extra strength tylenols (you're supposed to take one usually, but the doctor said he could take more) with a cup of coffee.
  • I agree with the caffeine. Hope you feel better!
  • Thank you, it's still on and off right now but I did book myself in to see a dentist and get an eye exam. Hopefully the headaches and migraines will stop now. It's been almost 2 years since I had a headache-free day. Drinking lots of coffee and pepsi, just hoping for a good day.

  • Well, don't overdo it on the caffeine - you'll get a withdrawal/crash headache if you have too much of it!
  • I'm only having caffeine when I feel the headache coming back, which is more than I usually drink.

  • Caffeine can actually make a migraine worse. I personally have to stay away from it. Also, birth control can make migraines much worse, and they tell people who suffer to try different methods. I usually take 3-4 ibuprofen and a 30 minute nap. Unfortunately, the ibuprofen is bad on your stomach after prolonged use. Tylenol has never done anything for me.

I'm not sure if my gyn. would put me on BC because I had a tubal ligation. I will check though, but I think if i go to the dentist and get some issues addressed and perhaps get glasses the problem may go away. I had a flash a few years ago when I was welding and my eyes have never been the same since. Tylenol doesn't work for me either, I have started using Motrin a couple months ago and find it doesn't hurt my stomach and it works pretty fast. I was able to get out and get some tonight finally.

Thanks for the tips everyone, I really appreciate it.

You actually don't want to be on BC if you get migraines, so it's good that you're not. Glad you finally got out to get some relief. I can't stand migraines.

  • It's still been on and off for the last day and a half, but for about an hour out of the day I can see out of my right eye again. This has been the worst, especially since I'm home with no help with the boys.
