Washing a mattress pad??

I tried to take our nice fluffy matttress pad to the dry cleaner today, to find out that they won't clean them bc they shrink too much.  So I am left with my dirty need to be cleaned mattress pad that has self tanner rubbed off on to it.  HELP!!!! Does anyone know how to clean a mattress pad at home? What can I do??

You're talking about the thing that sits between the flat sheet and the mattress, right?  Toss it in the washer.  If you're worried about it shrinking, wash it in cold water and hang it/lay it flat to dry.
Ditto. Check the care label, but I just throw mine in the washer and dryer.
  • I've always just washed and dried mine along with my sheets. Do you have a fluffy down one or something?

Agree, I just throw mine in the W/D, never any shrinking issues.

  • Unless it's some kind of special pad, you should be able to just wash it.  I've always washed mine, even in hot water, and never had a problem.

  • I bleach mine with the whites.... and dry it. No issues. I think I only paid $20 for mine, and it hasn't shrunk a bit. So if you have just an average one, I agree with the other posters, just throw it in!
  • Just wanted to add that you can always take it to a laundromat if your machines are too small.
