Has anyone ever had an issue with their fresh Christmas tree?
BIL was talking last night about preying mantises that were in their tree one year. Now we are second guessing getting a real tree, but we don't really want to store an artificial one.
Please share your stories!

Praying mantis' nests? In christmas trees? I've never heard of that before...but apparently it happens! I like mantis' though...so I wouldn't mind. XD
I just don't like the needles that live trees leave in my house, no matter how well their shaken beforehand. We went to our artificial tree many years ago...and I love it!
However, here's a cool tip...but how true it is, I have no idea!!!! Local radio station was testing all kinds of home remedies that people add to the water to keep their live trees from losing their needles and drying out. Sugar water, store-bought products, etc, and reporting on which ones work best.
They stated that the tree that kept the needles the longest was one where they added viagra to the water! hahahahaha....that still makes me laugh. Again, no idea if it was all just a joke or if they were serious.
This is hysterical, true or not!
Thanks for the advice everyone. We did decide to go with a small artificial tree. It is cute and perfect for now. Maybe someday we will get a bigger tree!
Wow! These are all new stories! I have never heard of Praying Mantis or Viagra in Christmas trees before - lol. The place where we go and cut down our trees shakes them out for you. They put it on this little machine and it shakes the crap out of it so all the loose needles fall off. I would hope that would knock any sort of bugs out of it too. But now I am paranoid and am going to have to have DH look over our tree.
