My dishwasher smells

Sometimes, I think that it is just me. But there is a funky smell in my dishwasher. Any ideas on what I can do. If anyone has ideas for solutions with everyday items i would appreciate it.

Re: My dishwasher smells

  • I think you can run a cycle with vinegar to make the smell go away, but wait for someone to confirm my answer before doing that.

  • I agree with the vinegar solution.  Also, finish sells a dishwasher cleaning package that you can run in your dishwasher.

  • Try opening your dishwasher door so that you can reach the bottom edge of the door and check to see if it dirty.  Mine gets super greasy and gross if I don't clean it regularly.
  • Make sure to keep the door cracked open. Dishwashers are sealed when they are closed all the way, the same thing can happen to a front loader washer. I put a dish towel to keep mine partially open since our dogs somehow always manage to close it.
