Re: Christmas Cookies

  • I love the sugar cookies that come in different Christmas shapes and are sprinkled with colored sugar.
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • I love peanut blossoms (ones with the hershey kisses) and melting moments (little thumbprint ones with cream cheese in the middle)
  • I love to make decorated sugar cookies and this is my go to recipe. Its super yummy without icing but is also good with more sugar. It doesn't puff up and doesn't spread so it's perfect for shapes like trees and any other shape that has intricate designs. It does make about 5 dozen medium sized cookies though.

     Ingredients:
    ? 6 cups all-purpose flour
    ? 3 teaspoons baking powder
    ? 1 teaspoon salt
    ? 2 cups unsalted butter
    ? 2 cups granulated sugar
    ? 2 large eggs
    ? 2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Instructions:
? Cream sugar and butter until fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients in separate bowl and add to butter mixture. Mix well.
? Put a handful of the freshly made dough between two sheets of parchment paper and roll to desired thickness. Repeat with the rest of the dough. Put the rolled dough, including the parchment paper, on a cookie sheet and refrigerate for 10 minutes or longer. Your dough will be chilled and ready to cut and bake with now wait and no added flour! ( You can also just make the dough into disk, wrap it in plastic and refrigerate for 15-20 mins) Repeat with scraps after cutting cookies.
? Bake at 350 degrees for 8 -10 minutes. Let cool.
