Christmas Presents for your Pets?

My SIL bought a toy for her cat and picked one up for our cat too.  I hadn't taken it out of the bag yet by the time DH and I went to bed last night.  At 2AM, I hear rustling and the pitter patter of kitty feet all over our bedroom.  When I looked up, our cat had her new toy still in the cardboard packaging but she was playing with it anyway.  I just took it out of the packaging for her and went back to bed LOL.  Apparently, she got into the bag and picked out the toy we brought home for her, little smartie pants.

Got me thinking about what we should get her for Christmas.  Usually we just get her a couple new toys or a bag of kitty treats, etc.  She has her own stocking we hang up with ours.  What about you girls?  How do you spoil your pets for Christmas?

  • That is SUCH a cute story!  I was laughing!  I always overfill a stocking for my furbaby.

  • At my parents house the dog had his own stocking and then the cats shared one. Buster (dog) got a couple new rawhide bones that were his fav and some treats. Cats got some toys and treats :-) One year the horses even got new halters! When we were kids we thought it was cool that everybody got something.
  • Gidget has her own stocking. Usually I'll go to Petsmart and pick up a few toys to put in there, but the last couple of years she hasn't been interested in playing with them as much so I've only taken 1 or 2 out of the package and then gave the rest of the package to her for the next Christmas.

This year she's getting a new fleece blanket because I'm tired of her stealing mine. We were hoping to get her a playmate for Christmas but we haven't been able to find a cat that we want.

  • This is our first Christmas with our dog - we got her last January.  DH just ordered her an adorable stocking from someone on Etsy.  We'll just stock up on the bones she likes, and try to find some more of the stuffing-less stuffed animals that are a must, as she tears everything apart.

  • My dogs don't really get anything 'special' for Christmas, but usually we give them a new one of their favorite things... Like a rawhide or a new stuffed animal 'baby' on that day. No stocking or wrappings or anything like that though.

  • We always get the cat Tatiana a gift.  I wrap it up for her and she gets to open it.  This year I think we'll get her a kitty condo.

  • Pugface has a stocking and both Grandmas get her toys, even though she doesn't really play with them.  I got her a coat on BF from PetSmart and some fun dingo wreaths.  When I brought the bag home, she just sat and stared at it and cried.  She's addicted to dingos.

Love the kitty story.  If pugface was agile enough, that is something she would have done too! :)

  • We used to get our cat toys for Christmas, but she immediately loses them so we stopped doing it.  She doesn't like normal treats, so those are out - now we just give her a little of what we're eating as a treat.  We're not with her for Christmas, though.

Once we start having the holiday at home, and actually put up stockings, I plan on having one for her too.  And then I guess we'll start getting her toys again!

  • Ours get bones, treats, toys and any new doggie supplies they need. I'm thinking new bowls and collars this year... all of them are overdue for an upgrade. It will be our first Christmas with the new boy, so I'm excited about spoiling him, plus he loves toys and our girls don't really!

  • That's too funny with the cat stealing her toy. :-)  We usually get our kitties some of the balls with feather tails on them.  Those are their favorite toys and they typically have the feathers completely ripped off by about the 2nd day they have them, so they're always excited to get new ones with feathers still attached.

  • H and I are so lame. We put $50 into the "pet emergency" fund. We won't be with Kaycee for xmas and she loses toys almost instantly. I'll probably give her a whole can of wet food as a xmas feast when we get home.

  • We usually get our cat and dog treats and a new collar, but this year we got Molly (dog) a new bed on BF that we gave her early and she loves it.  We'll still get her probably a bone on Christmas and the cat will get a new collar and some treats!

  • We usually just get our dogs some toys and treats. We'll get some of those stupid "gormet" dogs treat made from a real bakery or something like that. But we buy the dogs about 1-2 new toys every month. So they don't get a lot of stuff just on Christmas.

  • Nacho and Logan get catnip ;)

The dogs that belong to other family members may get some rawhide bones.
