Once upon a time, there was a girl who married a boy.
For Thanksgiving 2010, they decided to go to the boy's (large) family Thanksgiving as the following year, they will head to her family's (small) Thanksgiving.
They make the 1 1/2 hour trek to find 50 of his family members gathered together. We talk, mingle, drink, eat turkey and be merry. Then the newlywed couple come home.
The following day, the girl meets up with her mom and sisters for some shopping, then joins her family the rest of the weekend.
On Saturday morning, the boy calls... one by one each family that attended the Thanksgiving has been getting stomach flu. His immediate family, as well as two others sets of family have it. Boy has been throwing up nonstop since Friday night. Girl woke up feeling achy, but decided it was "sympathy" aches for her boy. Yeah... not so much. She spent most of Saturday sleeping, feverish, among other things. The highlight was blacking and finding herself on the bathroom floor.
By Sunday, everyone who attending the Thanksgiving has the stomach flu.
Moral of the story: Girl and boy may rethink the whole "going to the in laws" for future holidays. And, it is such a sad, pathetic story, it is hard not to groan and laugh.
On a side note, we are feeling better, for the most part, but we have our moments of feeling awful.
Re: A Tale From My First In-Law Thanksgiving...
Brutal. I'm inclined to agree with Katy, and think food poisoning, especially if EVERYONE got sick. And that really sucks.
My sisters went to a wedding a few years ago, where every guest ended up with food poisoning the next day. They both said that although it was a beautiful wedding, all they will EVER think of when they think of the wedding is how they spent the next two days fighting with their husbands over who needed the bathroom the most. The four of them were just ROTTEN.
I would hate to be those newlyweds.
that is just horrendous, i agree with you on rethinking all being together, lol.
i hope you are feeling better soon.
You blacked out on the bathroom floor?! That's terrible!
I hope everyone recovers really soon!
You know, we didn't go to dinner with the in-laws this year (we stayed home - the ILs live on the other coast) and we're glad we didn't...everyone out there got the stomach bug post-Thanksgiving, too! Weird.
Take care & hope you feel better soon!
