I had a post about a week ago about my sisters and one wanting to bring her cat and the other wanting to bring her bird. Well they both ended up bringing their respective animals, and of course it caused problems. My sister sat the bird cage on the table, then refused to move it saying everybody could just move down a spot (she sat it right in front of my dads seat at the head of the table). Then my dad said that while the cat was out of the her room and roaming the house my sister had to put her bird in her room. This led to my sister locking herself in her room and pouting for hours.
Then there were my IL's. My sister in law was packing up her MIL's car to go to her BIL's house (kinda confusing). She has an 18 month old daughter. There was too much junk being taken in the car so she decided they could just leave the car seat behind.
Re: Thanksgiving with family!
Whatthefuck? Where did the baby sit?
That's what I asked my DH on the way home and he said, "in her lap." Apparently that's the way they did it growing up.
This makes me cringe on so many levels.
The bird gets head of the table but the baby gets a crowded lap in the car?
Yuck! That is so unhygienic!!
Yea... I stayed far away from there. SHe decided she wanted to make a sweet potato casserole, and since my mom's mixer is slow and I was making mashed potatoes I brought my mixer from home with me. So of course my sister decides that one is prettier so she will use it (I wasn't upset about it, I just told her to clean it when she was done so I could use it). Well that's when she discovered she hadn't brought all her supplies with her to make her dish, so of course my dh gets to run to the store to buy it for her and I overcook my potatoes waiting for her (my fault!). Ugh...
SIL is young and doesn't really do the safest thing for her kid.
That's not just "not the safest thing" -- driving with a child who's not secured in a carseat is illegal pretty much everywhere in the U.S., as far as I know.
I hope y'all are spending Christmas by yourselves with a nice catered dinner and a big bottle of vino!
Lol, tip of the iceberg I promise. I'm in grad school right now, but I was a preschool teacher for the 2 years between college and grad school and knowing what I do about kids it's frustrating to see it. According to dh this is just how he grew up (he doesn't agree with it). I've learned long ago to not stick my nose in it.
Time to put on your big girl panties
I've got your rainbows and ponies right here
Your sister is kind of a freak regarding that bird...
Your SIL is nuts also.
I changed my name
The rest I let slide becaue it was really on your parents for allowing all of this to happen (bird-wise, not baby seat-wise), but she could have gone to the store herself. Your H didn't have to do jack.
She behaves this way because you all let her.
Oh I completely agree. DH didn't have to run to the store, he did because at that moment in time it was so much easier... not to mention our car was the one in the back of the driveway and we sure as hell didn't want her driving it. My Mom enables her beyond belief. She thinks the rest of us pick on her (which we don't, we just don't coddle her). I remember a huge fight she and I had because my sister is studying film and I refused to be used in one of her films (I don't like doing that kind of stuff, so I said no).
On a side note, my sister was actually recently diagnosed with a very mild form of asbergers (spelling?). But... she doesn't take her medicine for it!
And yes, the bird on the table was just weird. My dh and I laugh sometimes because we say our future kids are so screwed in the aunt department. We both have sisters and they are all crazy.
As for SIL and the car seat... she came into MIL's apartment and said there was too much stuff in the car so they're going to leave this behind. I didn't even realize what "this" was until later because I wasn't paying attention at all.
Christmas will be fun!
She dropped out of high school, lives with her mom, is on and off with the baby father (who has no job), works a minimum wage job and gives her boyfriend most of the money for video games, cigs, etc..
She is a screw up.
