BodyPump?

Anyone tried it?  Reviews?

The gym I go to just started offering it.  But only once at week at the most inconvenient time possible for me.  I can make it but is it worth it?

Thanks!

Re: BodyPump?

  • Is this the Les Mills program?  If it is, I used to do it at the gym I went to a while ago.  I liked it, I've never been a fan of weight equiptment at the gym.  It was a good workout.  If it's really going to be a hassel for you to get there, I wouldn't do it.  If it's popular, will the gym increase how often they have it?

  • Yep, the Les Mills program. I am so torn.

If you aren't a fan of weights at the gym, what do you do?

  • Love it! I think it's totally worth it. Unfortunately my current gym offers it a time I can't go. Expect to be very very sore on day 2 after the class. Like fall out of bed sore because you're legs won't work.
  • Definitely do it - it's great.  I used to go when I lived in DC.  It's a great workout.

Its a great, great work out!  And you definitely feel it in the days following!!!

  • LOVE. It'll kick your butt.

It's hard and a great workout, but fun at the same time.

  • I love Pump and the Les Mills program!  I go to Gold's and they offer the full program - Pump, Step, Combat, Flow which is like a pilates & yoga combo.  I love Combat. Anyway, Pump can be as easy or as hard as you want to make it based on the amount of weight you use.  Like Dani said on FB, in addition to the strength training, you increase your heart rate on certain songs/body parts (like squats) which gives you a little cardio.  Every teacher I've had has been so energetic and encouraging for all the different fitness levels in the class.  They talk you through everything.  And the music is so fun - a different song for each body part.  They switch up the routines and songs every few months to help keep you on your toes.

It's worth checking out a few times to see if it's something you like. I hope you do like it!  Let us know what you think :)

  • Thanks ladies!  I think I am going to try it on Wednesday.  I started doing the StrongLifts 5x5 workout today.  And holyshit I am sore, already.  I fear tomorrow.  But I NEED to change up my workout something fierce since I haven't seen any changes in three weeks.  It is killing me.

Timm is doing the StrongLifts with me.  Which is weird since he really isn't into the whole gym thing.  But having him there totally motivates me.  Watching him put weights on the bar makes me think, "if he can do this with weights, I can do it with just the bar!"  And then I do.  But if I were by myself, it would be easy to just say, "oh that was good enough."

  • i LOVE body pump!!  Its an amazing workout!  I can't wait to do it again post baby!
