Any drama? Good stories? No? What did you eat?
Re: Turkey Day recaps
I thought we'd have some drama. My brother has not seen my niece (his daughter, 17) in like a year and a half. All because of something stupid, I don't even remember what. Mostly it was my brother's fault. Anyway, my niece called and said she wanted to come to Thanksgiving with her boyfriend and my brother was like "does she know I will be here??" I told him she does know and that's probably why she wants to come, because she is his DAUGHTER! Moron.
Anyway, I was nervous that they would get into a snit but everything went smoothly, he even invited her and her boyfriend over for lunch on Saturday (she lives with her mom, she was from his first marriage). So hopefully they will reconnect now.
Aw, I'm really glad it worked out! I have my own, um, issues with my dad so stories like this give me hope. Anywho...
For once, no drama on our end. We spent a few days at the IL's which was very nice. Got to visit with several of MrShoe's compadres from HS and N was so flipping cute in her turkey dress! We played trivia after lunch on Thurs which was so, so, so fun. We had a great day. It was an excellent way to begin N's first holiday season for sure.
However, the weekend did not end on a happy note. My g-ma came over on Sat to help me with N so I could write my final paper for school. Well, she started vomming on Sun morning and I offered to drive her back to Lafayette in her car and have MrShoe come pick us up when he got off of work. It took us well over an hour to get to her house and then my g-pa offered to drive us back (God bless him) and i took us 2 1/2 hours to get from Lafayette to Lobdell. N and I ended up spending like 6 hours in the car. She's such a trooper. Needless to say, I was VERY glad to get home last night.
And now I have to find time to write a 20 page paper this week. Joy.
poor g'ma! Too bad I'm not coming to town till next week! If it were this week Elise and I would come play with N so you could get some work done!
My mom called Wednesday around 8pm to say that her oven went out and Sears did not have the parts in stock. Joy. So she came to my house early Thursday morning to cook Cornbread dressing and pecan pie. After she left, I made the green bean casserole and Jolene's Pumpkin Bread Pudding.
Ya'll... it's crack on a plate. So delicious. Next time I'll try to work either rum or bourbon into the caramel sauce. Just for the little extra.
So some drama Wednesday night, but everything was PERFECT for Thanksgiving. Dad did the turkey and the ham in the oilless fryer. Mom was able to make the mac n cheese at her neighbors. We had a great time with family and friends.
