Re: Thanksgiving Weekend Recap

  • I would have to say mine was anything but restful.

Wednesday:  Left work at 11:30; did some shopping, decorated the outside a little more, put the tree up then we went over my parents? for dinner (sis and BIL got into town about 4:00).

Thursday:  Headed over my parents? house about noon-ish that day; watched the Lions and visited with a house full of 11 people.  Dinner at 3:30.  Dad was carving the turkey when the nosebleeds started again but so far he?s ok.  Went next door for drinks then headed home about 9:30.

Friday:  Up at 5 am to meet my friend and her mom at the mall.  Stood in line at Target for an hour, hit the mall then came home; picked sister and cousins up at 10 to head to a larger mall 40 minutes away.  Shopped for about 3 hours then came home and went out to dinner.

Saturday:  Mother/daughter lunch with [parents?] next door neighbors that we grew up with.  Church, then dinner over parents? house; went to a bar for sister?s birthday.

Sunday:  a little more shopping then stayed home but didn?t rest ? did laundry, wrapping gifts, baking cookies, chores.  Mike brought the fire pit out and we sat outside for 2 hours.  Back to work today for me; he has a vacation day.

  • My weekend was wonderful! I don't think it could've gone much better, except for being a little longer ;-)

Wednesday I worked until 5, DH was preparing some of the items for our Tgiving meal while I worked. I worked on finishing the devilled eggs and getting the table ready for Thursday.

Thursday we had my bro, SIL and nephew and DH's mom and "friend" over for lunch with the kids around 1, ate and had a good time hanging out. Stepkids had a great time with my nephew which was fun to watch-reminded me of when I was a kid and played with my cousins who are about my stepkids age. DH was wonderful helping with dinner and did the entire cleanup while I visited with my brother!

Friday we had one of DH's groomsmen over w/wife and daughter (almost 3 yrs) and the kids played with her while the Flyers game was on. Then we watched Iron Man with the kids before bed.

Saturday MIL took kids out to eat while DH and I went to look at a new car for me, then DH's friend and fam came over again for pizza and a DVRed Flyers game. Lots of fun :-) Oh and the little girl has one of the pairs of slippers that I made that match my nieces' things I made-they fit and are super cute on her!

Sunday we took MIL out for a belated b-day breakfast at Perkins, then spent the day watching football. I think we were all beat by the end of the weekend but had a great time!  Today the kids are still off but I'm back to work now. Can't wait until Christmas b/c I have 2- 4 day weekends in a row!

  • BIL took a bus down from NYC to our place in VA on Tuesday.  We left work early on Wednesday and drove to northern VA to DH's grandmothers place.  DH's Aunt and 2 cousins were also staying with his grandmother, as well as BIL.  Grandmother had just had knee surgery, so it was a much more laid back Thanksgiving than normal, half the family did not come over, and did dinner at another aunts place instead.

Friday we went over to one of DH's aunts houses for his cousin's daughter's birthday party.  Saturday we went over to the aunts house again for a baby shower for one of DH's cousins, so lots of family events.  Georgia Tech lost to Georgia  :(  Then on Sunday we drove back home, and bought a tree.

I just wish that the weekend had been longer  :)

  • Our weekend was good.

Thursday: had Tgiving lunch with FIL's side of the family, then had dinner with my family. Then went to IL's to see the other side of the family.

Friday: I got up at 1 am to p/u my friend and be in line at Target by 230. We shopped for about 4+ hours then came home and napped.  That night some friends came over and we just hung out.  Everyone was tired from getting up so early so it was an early night.

Saturday: my BFF's hubby ran a 10 mile race so we met him at the finish line then went to a local bar for lunch.  That afternoon H and I were pretty lazy.  I cleaned up a bit from Friday then we went out for dinner.  We were still pretty tired from Friday (DH had to go to Chicago and back for work) so we laid low.

Sunday: did some laundry and got a few things done around the apt.

  • I have to say, my weekend was not relaxing at all - but I"m off today and tomorrow, so I"m hoping to make up for it.  I plan to spend lots of time on the couch today!!!

Wed and Thurs - were very nice and relaxing, prepping for and enjoying the holiday.

Friday - we had a disaster!!!  We had the plumber over to fix my shower (I posted about this previously) because I had no hot water.  He fixed the problem and $300 later, I had a hot shower - YAY!.   BUT While he was there, we had him snake the shower drain upstairs because it was going down slowly.  Later on, hubby takes a shower in the upstairs one, and discovers that it's leaking to the first floor!!!!!!  Long story short, the pipe is 50 years old (previous homeowners, which are my in laws, should have replaced it when they remodeled the bathroom 20 years ago, but did not.  thanks alot)  The plumbers had to cut a nice big hole in our celing and find the broken pipe, and now we have to deal with fixing the pipe, patching the ceiling, the carpet underneath the hole that was destroyed due to the water leak and pieces of mildewy ceiling falling out, and trying to get some of this paid for by our homeowners insurance.  Owning a house really s*cks sometimes.

Other than that, we spent the weekend putting up the tree, cleaning, food shopping, raking leaves...and going to see our friends' new apartment yesterday.

  • Not long enough!!

Thursday went to my aunt's house for turkey :) DH's fam was there too. Its just him, his mom, and 2 uncles so our families are pretty small.

Friday we were bums and stayed in all day did some packing and some resting.

Saturday DH went into the city. I stayed home and packed/cleaned. We had take-out for dinner and watched some movies.

Sunday we went for breakfast then did our food shopping. I roasted a chicken and DH and I did some packing/cleaning.

Boring and quiet but that was fine with me!

  • Restful, yet still very enjoyable!!

Wed: My office closed at Noon - but I worked the morning from home, which was great, as there really wasn't much work done, it was like having an extra day off! Did some light housework and prepped the turkey dinner...

Thurs: Cooked, ate, spent time with H before he had to leave for work, and then watched football...all day and all night...all good!

Fri: Did some cyber shopping, and started putting up decorations in the house. Visisted with parents, had a nice day...

Saturday - hung out by the fire with H and doggies, while watching old movies...a perfect afternoon :-)

Sunday - Do I really need to say it? Y'all know what I did today...lol

  • Ours was good, but busy!  We went up to DH's parents' house from Monday to Saturday.  DH worked on his PhD talk for most of the weekend since he is giving it today, so I had to be the social one.  It was nice that he could work from home with no distractions though.

Thanksgiving was great!  ILs ordered a deep fried Turkey from KFC, and it was better than I expected :)  But NO ROLES!!!  Can you believe it? ha ha, I thought of you ladies when I found out :P

When we got back home on Saturday, DH worked and worked, and I tried to help him out as much as possible.  Hopefully Christmas will be more exciting and relaxing since DH will not have this looming deadline :)

  • Wednesday night we went over to our adopted grandparents for a visit.

Thursday we got up early and shoveled snow and then I packed up the car to surprise my parents for the day.  My aunt and uncle and brother and his family came over and we pigged out, played some cards, and pigged out some more.

Friday, I helped my dad put some insulation up at my brother's house.  In the afternoon, I vegged out.

Saturday, I was cleaning out my old room at my parents and vegged.  I came home Saturday evening, worked out, and waited for DH to come home from work.

Sunday, church, Packer game, walked the dogs, sewed, worked out, and watched Twilight Eclipse (again).

All in all an excellent weekend!  So happy that I was off on Friday!

  • I had off on Wednesday and mostly spent the day cooking and doing stuff around the house.  On Thanksgiving we went to my sister's house and it was uneventful, which is always good for my family! Although my mom thought my MIL was upset about something about dinner - which I didn't notice but now I'm a little concerned.

Friday DH and I did a little shopping late afternoon, after the crowds thinned out so it wasn't too bad. Saturday we went out during the day to a local bar to watch the U of Miami game (DH is a fan) and then that night we had dinner with a group of friends. Sunday - didn't shower, didn't leave the house, caught up on laundry - great day!

  • Hi Everyone!

Wednesday: Got out of work half day..I was going to go with DH and some friends to see them blow up the balloons for the parade in Manhattan, so instead I just ended up hanging out with all of them when they got out of work. We went out in my town for the obligatory "Thanksgiving Eve Awkwardness" and actually had a blast.

Thursday: Woke up and looked at the ads...planned my route for Black Friday. DH and brother were working at the stadium on Thursday, so me and my parents went out to a steakhouse. Spent the rest of the day relaxing and watching football.

Friday: Crazy shopping. Picked up my friend at 2:40 AM so we would be at Kohls at 3:00 AM. Shopped until about 9 AM or 10AM and came home and slept! That night I just hung out with DH who was exhausted after a long two days at work.

Saturday: We had our "Thanksgiving". Mom and I cooked until the boys all got home from work, and we sat around, watched movies and then had the very filling dinner on Thursday night. It was finally good to get my Turkey fix!

Sunday: I had to work from home, so thats what I did most of the day!

All in all...it was a great few days and I really enjoyed not being at work....it makes today that much more difficult!

  • Oh my goodness I haven't been on here in forever...

My 4 day weekend was good.

Thursday we spent time with my family and relaxed when we got home and took a nap. After that, I left the house around 10 pm and stood in line for an hour and a half at Old Navy, after that I went to the mall and target. I didn't get home until almost 9 am! I was so exhausted I slept all day until dinner time lol

    Friday - Slept all day

Saturday- Went with DH to get his hair cut and visited with his family. Then went home had leftovers and relaxed

    Sunday - Relaxed all day

It was a pretty easy going weekend :)
