School options?
I'm really at a loss on what to do about my daughter's school, it is so, so unbelievably bad that I really can't keep sending her. I knew that this school was a disaster from the very first day, but I mistakenly thought things would get better 
I've seen teachers post here about job search questions so I thought maybe someone here would have some insight on where to look for a good public school or charter school.
We live in Robbinsdale and I would drive to Golden Valley, New Hope, Edina, Plymouth, Maple Grove and possibly Bloomington to find a good school. I've even been researching homeschooling (and that is SO not me).

DD is in Kindergarten now - I'd love to change schools now but understand that may not be possible until fall/first grade.
What's bad about her school? Aside from the poor test scores (which I knew about when I enrolled her - I had hoped that involved teachers/parents would make for a good "environment"), her school is an unorganized disaster.
The first day parents were asked to attend for the first 20-30 minutes, this time was spent having parents label school supplies. I was given NO info on what a "day in the life of a kindergartener" would be like. The first week of school DD came home with ONE worksheet that she had colored (still no "day in the life" info). I spoke with the principal and someone from the district about my concerns and they were nice, but even today I still don't have day-to-day/week-to-week info about what is going on in class. I'll get a monthly newsletter about what happened last month?
I think the topper and the reason I didn't send DD to school today... on Tuesday there was a Special Person's Lunch and singing in the gym. I dutifully attended and had asked DH to take off work to join me, I arrived at 10:00 as per the invitation and proceeded to wait in the gym for over 40 minutes for DD to get on stage and sing. When I asked a teacher/aid what was going on, I was told that 1/2 kindergarteners wouldn't be singing, since they don't have music class!
I honestly didn't know if DD did or didn't have music class - because I have not been given any information about kindergarten. A library book will come home with DD and I just send it back the next day because I have NO idea what day she goes to the library. It is sad and unbelievable that a school can operate like this
I'm talking about kindergarten here!
I guess I'm looking for a school with decent test scores, where there is a community of involved parents that care about their child's education. I do not get that feeling at DD's current school.
Oh I am so sorry you are dealing with this. I would also be very mad if I was not getting that information.
I know Edina has a great School Dist.
Throw your dependence on school-wide test scores out the window, in the next few years every single school in the nation will be headed into trouble as the percentages get higher and higher.
Pick Oak Grove Elementary in Bloomington, just because the middle school that feeds into is amazing.
I grew up in the Wayzata district and really enjoyed my k-12 experience. My niece and nephew went to the Wayzata district and really liked it, they are now in the Maple Grove district and also like it there to. My grandmother was a paraprofessional in the Maple Grove district (just retired last year) and raves about it.
I know that in the Maple Grove district Rush Creek Elementary is rated extremely high AND Fernbrook Elementary is a good school as well. Also they have a magnet school on Waver Lake Road, actually called Weaver Lake Elementary.
