Daycare/Christmas bonus question

Hi everyone,

I know I don't post here very often anymore and there are lots of people I don't recognize.  I hope everyone is doing well.  I would love to hear updates from everyone.

I have a question for those who use a home daycare.  Are you giving your homecare provider something for Christmas?  Are you giving a gift or money?  If so, how much money or what kind of gift?  We love, love, love our daycare provider and we definitely plan on doing something, but I don't know what the norm is.  Any advice would be great.

Thanks!

Katie

Re: Daycare/Christmas bonus question

  • I'm not a parent but my mom is a home daycare provider (and has been for about 15 years) and most of her families give her gifts. I don't know that anyone gives her extra $. And to be a little more specific many of them get her pedicures, restaurant gift cards, etc. Things she really likes. Some get her other food and coffee types as well. Most range in price from $25-$50 although some give more and some give less.

  • Thanks for posting this! This totally would have slipped my mind for sure.

    Hope you are doing well.

  • We usually give our dayhome provider a $50 gift card to the Bay or Sears(her two favorite department stores)
  • Last year we gave her a $50 gift card to Kelsey's/Montana's.

  • I was just thinking about this. My dayhome is run by two women who are sisters-in-law and DS only goes twice a week. What do you think would be appropriate in this situation?
