My 20th H.S. Reunion SUCKED!

Citygirl17:  I hope you didn't waste time going to your reunion and stayed put with your family and friends.  My reunion SUCKED!

I was never one of the "popular" people in our class, and I was hoping that like the 10th reunion, that at least a few of my friends would be there. Well, as it turns out, only ONE of my friends was there, and thank God for her or else I wouldn't have had anyone to talk with except my husband!

Also, it was held in this small outdoor heated tent in back of this restaurant called Water Works by the Art Museum in Philly. It was crowded and hot!  Don't know why the hell it wasn't held in Cherry Hill, NJ, where I graduated - there are PLENTY OF PLACES in Cherry Hill they could have held it! The drinks were overpriced too!

Overall, the evening sucked, and I couldn't wait to get out of there!

  • Awww, I'm sorry you didn't have a good time =(.  Those things seem to be so hit or miss depending on who shows up.  Did you at least get a good meal out of it?

I did not go to mine - I stayed in New York instead and hung out with my in-laws and friends.  Just couldn't tear ourselves away from everyone and the city so soon =).  Pictures have been posted online, and judging by those, it was a total drinking / slobfest.  People were talking about "pregaming" beforehand like we're all still in college.  No thank you.  I'm glad I didn't go - looks like some people will never change.  A group of my friends did end up going and I really missed them, but they told me it wasn't worth my trip back though, so that made me feel much better about my decision.  No regrets!

  • Sorry you didn't have fun :-( I have 6 years until my 10year and I don't think we'll do a 5 but if we do it shouldn't be bad. There was only 24 of us and I still communicate with 15ish of them.

They had some heavy hors d'oeuvres that were pretty good, but not an actual meal.  And no dancing, which also sucked!

Jessie:  wow, small class!  I graduated from a class of 360 people, but I think only about 80 or so attended this reunion, and only one was a friend of mine.  FAIL!

  • Sorry it wasn't a fun night. I have no interest in going to any of my high school reunions unless one of my friends plans on dragging me. I figure I still talk to the few people I actually give a crap about so why see anyone else?

My class was pretty trashy anyway, so I can't see the point in spending money to find out who is divorced or who can't keep her legs closed. Plus I'm one of a few without kids so I don't see the point in subjecting myself to hearing "But Nichole, you're 25! We ALL have kids. You're SO far behind."

I second pretty much all of this.  Sorry you had a crappy time, Jody.  I skipped my 10 yr this summer b/c I knew I would have more fun drinking cheap beer with H at home than being all pretentious with a bunch of people I haven't seen or talked to in 10 yrs.

  • The only reason I would go to mine is because I went to HS in the same town I went to college, and Jeff and I like to go back and visit occasionally.  Even then I probably won't - as others have said, I keep in touch (sort of) with the few people I want to see, and there are more that I would rather avoid.  We had a pretty small class (110) and I know how most people are doing thanks to FB.

  • Jody - sorry it sucked. I won't do reunions for this reason either; I wasn't popular nor complete outcast but I hated high school. My class had 97 or so people and our 15 year reunion is next year; I won't go.
