My aunt wants a bird feeder that is squirrel proof but ok for big birds (cardinals, etc). She said she needs one but doesn't want to spend the money (hence a perfect Christmas gift).
So I went to a bird store and bought a feeder.. for $92. The price was high but I just wanted to get my Xmas shopping out of the way. Well I got home and the same feeder is $60 on Amazon (free shipping).
I like to support local business but that's crazy. I have to return the feeder, but I know I will feel compelled to explain why I am returning it.. any suggestions as to what to say? I was thinking I could say I found out there was a spending limit.. I dunno.. (I know I don't "owe" an explanation, I just want to be prepared when she likely asks if something is wrong with it or why I'm returning it). Any suggestions?

Regardless....True gave good advice and I don't think your going to get anything better so just go in and say that or say nothing. Up to you.
I totally agree- if they don't price match, then nothing lost. At least this way they have the information/reason why you're returning it. I'm with you- I go out of my way to support local businesses too- and the information on the pricing discrepancy could help them make a decision about whether to continue carrying it, asking their supplier for a break, etc.
