They're shutting the water off

at work.  The water department stopped by to let us know that the landloard has not been paying the water bill so they have an order to shut off the water.

The guy was nice enough to let us continue using the water for two more hours so he will be back before noon to shut it off.  So if we are to use the facilities we must do so soon.  There are 6 businesses in this building, looks like we'll all be without water...nice.  See, I knew today was going to be a good day.

  • Oh that's just lovely. Its as bad as my heat issue! Maybe you'll get to go home early?
  • I'm pretty sure it's an OSHA violation to keep you guys on the premises.

It definitely is.  We had a water mane break last year and we had to be sent home from work b/c they couldn't provide us with drinking water and the sprinklers wouldn't have worked if there were a fire.

  • WTF!  Wow, yeah I'd be going home...no way I'd stay there.

  • Um, yeah... I agree with PPs. I don't think they can keep you there- isn't it basically the same as a power outage, only for so long b/c it isn't 'safe' or whatever. I say go home early anyway, it would definetely make MY day better!

  • So...they sent you home, right?  Because you have every right to leave if not.

  • Water is still on.  Now I'm hoping that they turn it off so I can go home early, open up a bottle of wine and start wrapping Christmas gifts.
