Holiday Treats

I really need to sit down and figure out what I am making this year.

All I know for sure are buckeyes and those little pretzel things with the rolos in the middle.

What are you planning on making?

Re: Holiday Treats

  • Cake balls/cake pops

    Cut outs

I found a recipe last night in my Costco magazine of all places for some peppermint bark chocolate brownie cookies.  And some magic cookie bar style made with brownies and peppermint bark

That is probably all I'll make.

Possibly some compost cookes, I saw the recipe on Regis and Kelly over the summer and have been wanting to make them.

Already made a batch of the kahlua...and it's YUMMY!!!  Hopefully getting the amaretto done this weekend.

  • skillet cookies

chocolate dipped ritz crakers w/ peanut butter in the middle

caramel balls (if i can find the recipe)

  • IDK, my mom makes a gazillion different Christmas cookies and she just asked me to make them because she is feeling too weak and seems to be getting weaker over time.  I will gladly make them, but I'm not sure when I am going to get them done.  I don't have much leave left after having A, so I'm not sure what I am going to do.

Oh dear Lord these are soooo good.  Mmmmmmm

I will probably make layer bars, oreo layer bars, peanut butter blossoms, thumbprint cookies, and possibly fudge crinkles as well.  I need to choose a new recipe to try as well, but I haven't decided what I want to try this time.

If I remember correctly you just put rolos in the middle of the small pretzels and bake them for a few minutes.  My sister has made them before with mini pb cups, and that was good too.  I have seen them with and without pecans on top of the candy too.  They are super easy and amazingly yummy!

  • Monica - I use the little waffle like pretzels, place one rolo on the pretzel, bake until soft, then put another pretzel on top and gently press down to form a sandwich. OMG, so good and easy.

You can also use cirle/round pretzels. And if you want to get fancy, you can use hershey kisses (any flavor) and then put a mini red m&m on top, ala Reindoor noses.

Hmmm sounds like I could do this one! I'll have to try and get back to you on how they turned out! I'm serious about the cookies! We tried last year and they were a PITA and I was so disappointed they didn't taste like my mom's recipe. (Even though we used her recipe) Can you send me a price for 2 or 3 dozen? How about some cake balls? Are you doing those this season too?

  • Kelly, I will email you.
