I was asked on Thanksgiving to be my nephew's Godmother! Here is the story ofhow they asked me, so cute! We were at DH?s side and wealways do the prayer circle before we eat. Everyone forms a circle hand-in-hand and one by one says whatthey are thankful for that season. When it was SIL's turn she turnedto me and stated that they would be honored for me to be Chaston's Godmother!!!yeah I cried.
Baptism is in a few weeks, so now Iam thinking of what to get him. What have you given or think would be a cuteidea for a gift??

Congrats to my super sweet BFPB, veronicafvr, She's a SEP '11 momma

Re: I'm a Godmother! ;)
Congrats! That is such an honor! We just became Godparents for our niece and nephew a few months ago. Our nephew is 6 years old, so I wanted to get him something that he could appreciate and have some fun with. We got him a few things. First we got him a Noah's Ark bank from Things Remembered. We got it engraved too, but for the life of me I can't remember what it said! I know that it was something out of the book they have in the store that fit perfectly. Then we got him a Beginner's Bible. According to the letter the church gave us the day of the baptism it is our responsibility to provide the child with an age appropriate Bible as they grow up. So that's one job checked off the list!
But I had that same Bible when I was little and I loved reading the stories and looking at the pictures. The next thing we got him was a little cross pin/tie tack. It was like $2 at the Christian Bookstore in the area. He was so excited to wear it on his shirt. I also figure it is something he can wear as he gets older for special church events, such as first communion and confirmation. The final thing we got him was just for fun but kept with the theme: Printoon's Noah's Ark Activity Book. I had gotten him one of those in the past that he LOVED, so he was pretty excited about this one too. We also found that at the Christian Bookstore, but you can order it online too.
Anyway, lots of people give money, savings bonds, or contribute to some sort of savings for the child's future, but we decided to stick with things that would help his spiritual growth. Afterall, that's what being a Godparent is about, right?
