Do you draw names or do you buy for each family member?
Do you buy gifts or gift certificates?
How much do you spend on average for each sibling, parents, neice/nephew, etc?
Re: Buying Family Gifts
We buy for everyone. this year. Last year we didn't bc we were hardcore saving for our house.
This is how we broke it down.
Jena's (6) sister = $15/ea {we aren't rich people}
Jena's parents (4) = No idea yet.
Jena's (4) neices/nephew = Don' know yet.. probably $20-30
Chris' Mom = $50
Chris' bro= $50
Chris Mamaw= $50
Each other. no idea
Oh, I didn't answer the rest of the questions. No we don't draw names. I like to buy personal gifts, but sometimes I just don't know what to get someone so I'll go w/ a GC.
Do you draw names or do you buy for each family member? No, we don't...I wish we did but it would be too difficult to coordinate and get everyone on board.
Do you buy gifts or gift certificates? Gifts usually...with maybe 1 or 2 gift cards thrown in.
How much do you spend on average for each sibling, parents, neice/nephew, etc? Siblings - I don't have any but for my H's siblings, around $20-30 for the older 2 and around $15-$20 for the younger ones (they're 10 and 15).
For neices/nephews, around $15. For my parents, probably around $100 for my Mom, $30-50 for my Dad and Step-Dad. I also buy gifts for my younger cousins, I try keep that at $15 or less per cousin (there are 5 of them)...I have a lot of people to buy for, which is why try and keep the amounts down. Oh, and around $20-30 for my H's Mom, Grandma and my Grandma.
Do you draw names or do you buy for each family member? We usually draw names for my family (I have a big family so it's just easier.) My husband only has his mom and sister and her kids and husband so we buy them individual gifts.
Do you buy gifts or gift certificates? It depends. If I don't know what to buy someone I'll do a gift certificate. My SIL usually specifies some things for her family so we buy what she suggests. For my niece and nephews (they are adults in the mid-20's) I usually give them cash if I draw one of their names.
How much do you spend on average for each sibling, parents, neice/nephew, etc? For my family when we draw names there is a $50 max. For my husband's family I'd say anywhere between $20 for his mom, sister and BIL and $30-$40each for his nephew and niece.
For my H side of the family, we've drawn names the past few years and done either a $75 or $50 limit. Usually gift cards are big in his side of the family, especially since everyone is scattered about.
My side of the family, my mom likes to think we are still little kids and goes all out, so the idea of drawing names would be devastating to her. So we usually do around $75 or so for my mom & dad, and probably more in the $50/60 range for my mom's boyfriend, brother, sister-in-law, and a little less for their daughter. We do gifts, although sometimes a smaller gift card may be part of the present, and with my family, it's more common to do many smaller gifts over 1 bigger item.
Do you draw names or do you buy for each family member?
We buy for each family member
Do you buy gifts or gift certificates?

How much do you spend on average for each sibling, parents, neice/nephew, etc?

Siblings and any spouses - $25-$30 each
Significant others of family - $15-$25 each
