So, my Doula told me a while back to start taking vitamin D, garlic supplements (natural antibiotic), and probiotics to help your immune system, avoid strep B during delivery, etc. She said it works for 95% of her clients that take this cocktail. Anyhow, she said extra vitamin D when your sick works wonders, so per her guidelines I've been taking 2000 ui vitamin D twice a day, garlic twice a day, and probiotics once a day and I am already better! I seriously thought I would be sick for a week, but I was sick for 1.5 days. Just thought I would share in case it can help any of you get better

Re: For the sick ladies...
I take a drop of Vitamin D a day. My doula recommended this as well as a probiotic and fish oil. I can't do the fish oil (I about puked it up from the smell the one time I tried), so instead I've been adding about a teaspoon of ground flax seed to a sandwich or toast each day - this also has Omega in it, which is what you want from the fish oil. Good side effect of flaxseed - it can help you stay "regular".
Also, the probiotic is most important in the 3rd trimester I believe - for the strep reason that Kristen mentioned.
This is great advice!
Kristen-I had no idea you hired a doula! Are you planning on natural?
Yes, I am and I'm really excited about it! I just hope it all goes as I want it too. haha I LOVE my Doula though - she's a doula, massage therapist, hypnobirthing instructor, and is in school to become a midwife. She's attended over 400 births, so I feel like I have the best chance at having the birth I want with her there
You're going natural too, right? Are you planning on hiring a Doula?
We were going to hire and doula and then I decided against it. Everyone we spoke to wanted like 1k, which I thought was insane.
DH is being SUPER supportive. We have been studying the Bradley stuff together. I'm so proud that he has kept up on the reading! I feel like we are both getting more and more confident as it gets closer.
NJ has one of the highest csection rates in the country-it's completely insane (I'm not sure how Florida is). My Dr has told me since I have had such a normal pregnancy, she is completely fine with me staying home until well into my labor as long as I feel alright to make sure I stay on my birth plan. My hospital also has birthing tubs as well, which I may end up using-we will see how I do!
That's awesome! I plan on staying home as long as possible too. My DH is really glad that we got a Doula because he said he would get scared and rush me off to the hospital right away if it were just him with me. haha
