Secret Santa Question

So . . . I found a really neat gift for my person. I know she'll like it. If someone were to buy this gift new, it would be like $40. I found it used for just about $20.

Now, it's not like underwear or clothes. It's like a video game or DVD. Do you think used is ok? [Poll]

Re: Secret Santa Question

  • I would say yes, as long as it's from a reputable site and the seller is saying that it's in good condition.  If it winds up being unusable (like a DVD that doesn't play) you can get your money back.  So maybe you could include a card that says, 'please let me know if there's a problem with the [item]'  or something?

  • What's wrong with used underwear??  Ha ha.  I kid, I kid...

I think you're fine - like Laura said - as long as you know that the item is in good condition.  Make sure you have the seller send you good pictures of anything that could possibly be wrong with the item so that you can assess the situation before you buy.

  • Hehe. I actually bought it from a brick and mortar store, so I have it and can see it and touch it, test it out, if you will. I checked the condition before I bought it. I'll be sending out my gift shortly!

Oh then I think that's totally fine.  And probably even more likely to be guaranteed - plus the recipient may be able to take it to the store herself if necessary (which it sounds like it wouldn't be).
