Happy Hump Day

Morning ladies, how is everyone today?

I'm insanely tired.  DH got home at midnight last night.  We stayed up chatting until 1 and I had to get up at 5.  It's gonna be a rough one.

But it's poker night and I'm excited to see my girlies (we skipped last week).  And my BFF in Germany called me yesterday to say she's preggers.  So excited!  That makes 6 women in my near vicinity that are KU.  Lord help me, I'm starting to get the bug bad...

Speaking of, I watched some 16 & Pregnant last night and got me all butt hurt b/c these little girls are having babies like nobody's business. I know when we finally decide to start trying, we are going to have one hell of a time conceiving.  I've lurked on the GP board and it's really depressing how many women out there want babies and can't get KU.  So unfair :/

Re: Happy Hump Day

  • I think it's crazy how people who don't want babies can have them at the drop of a hat and people who really want them sometimes can't.

I absolutely freaking HATE when the ankles of my pants are wet. HATEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! I hope no one wants a tour from you today. It is a GD awful monsoon outside. I am soaking wet and am sure I will not dry anytime soon. Awful awful weather.

Last night I hit the library to return books and pick up new ones, then I came home, changed sheets, did a load of laundry, and took the dogs to get their nails clipped. They are so embarassing carrying on like lunatics. When I got back home I ate, watched Gossip Girl, RHOA, and Life Unexpected on DVR. I let the dogs out again, and got into bed to pluck my chin hair in my super magnifying mirror. Whee. I finished a book and fell asleep around 11:30.

I have a mile long to do list at work today. Anxiously awaiting my photos from the second shooter at the wedding, which I have yet to get. It's a bit of a situation at this point.

I am going to do some hausfrauing tonight.

  • Morning!!!

I'm in a great mood.  Chopped my hair last night!  I don't think it's been this short since high school!

It's snowing this morning and although it's pretty, it's got a wicked flight pattern that makes it fly directly into my eyes- and I"m not digging that!

  • I'm (sort of) working from home today. I've got a stye/eye infection and my eye is all sorts of crazy swollen and painful. H is working from home, too. Surprisingly, we're both actually working and he keeps yelling at me for talking to myself too much.

It's nice to work at home on the couch with the cat on my lap. Big Smile

But my eye freaking hurts. Sad

  • Morning. I'm also ridiculously tired. I was playing a computer game with H until about 10:30 when I looked at the clock was all "oh crap I need to go to bed!" and then couldn't fall asleep.

So I watched 16 & Pregnant and finally fell asleep around 12:30-1 AM. I wanted to cry when my alarm clock went off at 5:30.

I get what you mean about the unfair part. I was talking to H the other day about how stupidity breeds stupidity at such a fast rate that we're killing our chances for society to ever gain any more intelligence. If it was easier for people who can't have children to adopt, maybe these potentially stupid children could be smart. Then maybe we could stop having a society where its socially acceptable to have a child before you're able to vote.

  • Morning. I just found out some interesting news. I'm pregnant. Yep. Two 3rd graders just told me. Isn't that great? Shocking news to me though. That was my laugh for the morning.

I'm actually in a pretty good mood despite trying to get a cold. I wish Mother Nature would make up her mind whether she wants to be 50 degrees or 80 degrees. My mood also improved by my wonderful 4th and 5th grade group this morning. They were so silly I couldn't help but laugh and be silly too. .Needless to say, not much was accomplished but it was still fun.

I totally understand the unfairness of it all. I've always wanted to kids and to be a mother and just found out we'll probably have difficult time TTC. It kind of makes me want to start now just in case. I couldn't agree with you more, Nichole, about stupidity breeding stupidity. I love my kids but they have no role models and it breaks my heart. I could probably predict which ones will be pregnant by 16....

g almost broke his leg 2 weeks ago and has today off to go back to the docs to get it looked at.  i am SO jealous.  i want to sleep for hours.

new blog entry today.  it is gonna be a whopper.

Whenever you do make them, will you blog a recipe? My new cooking goal is to learn how to make things I've never made before without stealing someone who knows how to make them. My attempts at pierogie failed horribly and as much as I want to go steal a Polish grandma to teach me, I'm determined to learn on my own.

  • Morning!  I'm also ridiculously tired.  I drank coffee this morning, which I don't usually do, and now I'm all jittery and having a hard time focusing on anything.

I watched 16 & Pregnant for a bit last night, but I had to turn it off.  I get so irrationally bent out of shape over things like that sometimes, and the two I was watching on there last night were too much.

I agree totally with the unfairness of kids having no trouble getting pregnant.  My sister had a baby when she was 19, and now my mom raises her while my sister is off playing around with a new boyfriend.  It irritates me to no end sometimes that she just had her and left while some people would give anything for a baby.  *sigh*  That's life, I guess...

When I was younger, I pretty much lived with my then BFF and her Ukrainian grandmother used to try and teach us how to make pierogies. BFF can actually make them now and I still say that Mrs. T's pierogies are just fine! (even though they're completely different than what we were making)

Even though I hate the movie 'Idiocracy', there's a part of it in the beginning that talks about how only stupid people breed, and that this explains the decline of society.  It's pretty hilarious (though I think the rest of the movie sucks).  When Jeff and I see prime examples of idiots having children when they shouldn't, we always turn to each other and say, "It's just like Idiocracy"

My day started off kind of crappy - despite having rainboots and an umbrella, I'm soaked and waiting to dry off.  The rain got IN my boots, and still managed to get my hair soaked.  Blah - I hate this feeling.  I was also carrying a package to return to J Crew and I stupidly didn't cover the label with tape because we're almost out and I'm trying to conserve it, and the ink ran.  The letters are all still readable, but the barcode probably isn't scannable and I'll be pissed if my clothes wind up in limbo, with no refund in sight.

Edit: I love latkes and pierogies.  I'm officially hungry.

  • I thought my last pierogie attempted turned out okay once I salvaged them in the oven (long story) but H didn't like them. I think its because he's only ever had Mrs. T's before and wouldn't know a real pierogie if it hit him over the head.

OH! And startling revelation! My lovely H who has professed his undying hatred of 99% of vegetables has now agreed to eat them!!!!! He was helping out as a server at his brothers restaurant and had two kids who ordered a salad instead of fries with their burger and he spent the rest of the night thinking that here were these two kids, no older than 12, ordering vegetables on their own accord, and here he was, at 25 refusing to eat anything but corn, green beans, peppers, mushrooms or broccoli. He said he might not like them, but he won't complain if I make them and he'll actually try them!!! I am SO excited.

There was a contestant on Jeopardy! last night who's little 30 second get-to-know-me-story was that he doesn't eat anything green.  Really, you're a grown man and can't eat vegetables?  Seems so odd.  Glad your hubbies are stepping up and trying to obtain an adult palate :)

In unrelated news, I ordered our Christmas cards on Monday and also created a holiday return address label.  So cute:

ETA: I'm going to delete the pic soon, since I can't edit out the addy here at work.

  • Aw, Misty, the labels are RIDICULOUSLY cute. Did you do that on a website or something?

I almost spit my coffee out when I read that.  I was like what?!?!

So far morning is not terribly bad.  I must go to the gym tonight.  I weighed myself last night and no bueno.  It's been cold so I've been wearing sweatshirts and hoodies, so no one will notice my extra weight gain.

Watching 16 and Pregnant just reminds me about when DH and I were trying to get pregnant when we were 18.  I don't know what the heck we were thinking, or what I was thinking.  I wanted a baby and he went along with it.  Luckily we didn't get pregnant Imagine, I would have a 9 or 10 year old kid right now...that's scary.

My reason for "wanting" a baby was because of the relationship, or lack thereof, with my mother.  I thought that if I had a child I would be a better mother.  I desperately wanted a child to love because I didn't have that with my mother.  We tried for several months and didnt't get pregnant.

Then, it just hit me, what the heck was I doing?  While my friends were going to college I was trying to have a baby.  Did I really want to be a mother at 18?  I'm so glad that we didn't have a baby at that time because it would have been so hard for us both.

  • Misty- love those labels! I have been wanting to make some labels, I have a massive amount of coupons for shutterfly so I might check on there.

So I think I'm loosing my mind, this morning I get in my car and while its warming up i mess with my radio volume and think to myself why can't I see what my volume is set on (the notches were blurry). And I realize I don't have my glasses on, I can NOT see a thing about 2 feet in front of me without my glasses. And then, I put H t-shirt on this morning, I guess I hung it in my closet on accident. I trip over the dog stairs to the bed and wake the dogs up and they start barking at me. Bad morning!

And me and H are TTC, not really on purpose, but we figure if it happens it happens and we will be happy about it!

When he said this, I said, "What are you, 5?" to the TV.  And then Jeff reminded me that I won't eat anything blue.  I told him that it's completely different, since very few things are naturally blue, while LOTS of foods are green, but he disagrees.

I shiit you not, I said the exact same thing to the TV.  DH wasn't home and pugface didn't respond (she just gave me the stink eye), so I didn't have to justify my actions :)   The man is obviously educated, since he's on Jeopardy, and I just found it highly immature and pathetic that they were joking about it.

I believe Jeff is incorrect on that one.  I can't really think of anything blue besides blueberries (well they're more purple) but there's a bajillion green things out there.

Again, brew, I swear we are related.

I don't eat blue candy or drink blue drinks.  So, things that are artificially blue...it just weirds me out, and I know that's my private little psychosis, but I STILL think it's different than not eating green food.  Jeff especially makes fun of the fact that I won't eat blue M&Ms, even though they taste like the other colors (as opposed to most blue candy, which is blue raspberry or something).
