Gym Goers & Group Class Takers, come in

I'm working on re-naming and re-defining one of my classes... Here's what I'm thinking of doing.

1) Would you take this class? (aka, does it sound fun or scary?)

 Ultimate Fitness Fusion
This high-intensity interval training class combines a variety of styles, incorporating cardio drills, resistance training, and ab work. The variety of moves is designed to suit all levels, giving you the ultimate heart-pumping, muscle-strengthening burn.

EDIT: Is this better? The word 'ultimate' in the title is a play on the name of the gym.

2) Does the description match what we do in class? (aka, if you decided to come based on the description, would you be satisfied that you knew what you were getting into?) Here's the format:

- Warm-up/stretch
- Alternate 3 min segments of:
     - Weights (mixing it up a lot - weights/bands/balls/endurance/strength/etc)
      - Cardio drills (utilizing basic step moves and/or floor - some dance inspired, some more simple, a little basic choreography, some no choreography at all)
- 10mins abs
- Cool-down/stretch

3) Anything else? :)

  • The description would intimidate me and I probably would wimp out and just do the eliptical instead....however, reading the outline of what you actually do...I'd love that! Sorry, I'm probably no help at all.

LOL. That's what I was afraid of. Ummm... How do I make it sound interesting and fun without intimidating people? HELP! :)

  • The class description sounds very appealing and based on the outline, I'd be totally happy with the class. However, there's something intimidating about the phrase "Ultimate Fitness" in the title that might scare me away from even reading the description in the first place if I was glancing through class offerings because it sounds really advanced. But that's because I'm wimpy when it comes to exercise classes. I'm sure for some people that would be the kind of thing they're looking for.
  • I think the title and starting the description with "High-intensity" is what might be intimidating to some.  Of course, you want to appeal to all levels and not tailor it completely to beginners either.  So tough!!

And the class really does work for all levels. I have someone who is 71 take my class and takes it really 'calm' and others who are really young and fit, doing heavy weights and are super 'bouncy' on the cardio... Hmmm.. Maybe I can edit so it starts out with the "all levels" first and maybe give the intensity phrase something about "for a range of intensities" or something.

  • Oh and the word "ultimate" is a play on the name of the gym, so I think it works here and is probably less intimidating if you were a member at the 'ultimate' gym. kwim?
  • I have to say the word ultimate would intimidate me (even as a boot camper).

While I like the description, I think putting in that it is for all levels is important too.

  • Perhaps state that this class is for all levels?

I would be interested in your class!  However, I am always somewhat "scared" of group classes because I feel like I will be lost and look silly!

  • I agree with a lot of the previous comments. Mostly, I didn't get the vibe that it was high intensity from the description, so it was a mismatch.

It CAN be if you want it to be. (I do it at a high intensity)

  • It sounds appealing to me, but I like intense classes. Big Smile

I agree with kfishie that including something about "all levels" in the description can be helpful to people who might be initially intimidated.

I find it humorous that it does say "all levels" in the description but everyone seemed to miss it. Apparently, I need to bring it further up in the description. haha. Love it...

OMG, you're totally right.  I guess we all do our share of skimming, right?  Embarrassed  Anyway, I still think it sounds appealing, and I would take it.  I particularly like the part that emphasizes the "variety of moves and styles," because I think everyone likes to hear that there will be variety in a fitness class.
