I'm a vindictive biatch today (vent)

Hey guys, is the weather there as miserable  as it is here?

I really wanted to stay in this morning.  The only reason I dragged my self out of bed is because one of the guys I am working with SUCKS SO BAD. He is a tester.  All he has to do is find errors with our end product.  I design it, the programmers make it work, then he tests it before we release to the client.

For the first release of our project he said there were no errors. The Friday before the release we found like 15 errors!  Our programmers stayed till 11pm fixing them.  I was there till 8pm.

Error guy literally does not do his job.  His only job is to find errors.  Yesterday, our team leader finally asked me to double check to see if I could find any because have another release coming up.

I found 18!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday the error guy started cozying up to me to try to see what errors I was finding. I'm a designer mind you. Not a tester.  I knew that if I didn't come in, he would take credit for all the errors I found.

I know the end goal is to produce a good product and it doesn't matter who did what, we are on the same team,  but I am tired of watching him look at Bollywood videos all day and work and not doing ***.

This story only grazes the depths of his incompetency and laziness.   I don't have enough space and time to explore it all.

whew...haven't vented here in a while.

Feels glorious.

  • Oh how I hate incompetent co-workers.  I totally feel your pain.

  • That is one reason why I <3 our company so much ... our QA guys are (generally) great. Our developers though ...

    No comment. :-)

I love my puppy ... and my husband, I swear!
  • Still waiting for the vindictive part, seeing as how I'm a biatch 24-7, I see nothing wrong w/ your reaction.
  • I'm with Brew, this doesn't really seem vindictive.  I do think the guy deserves a swift kick in the nuts, though.

If it makes you feel any better, I just sent a coworker home, on the pretense that he is sick (because he's been whining about the sniffles, wanting an excuse to go home even though we both know he's fine).  I don't have the authority to send him home, but he hasn't done anything all day but annoy me and distract me from my work.

Same here.  I definitely feel your pain, though.  Even though lately I've been so unmotivated, I'm afraid I'm *that* girl. Huh?

  • well as usual, thanks for the support girls!

The story gets better....I found more errors today and he refused to add a few, saying either they weren't valid or saying that he found them before and the programmers told him it wasn't an issue.  He told me to go take it up with our team leader.

So I went to leader's office and started asking about my errors and pretty much he was like, "why didn't error dude just add them? who is giving you resistance?"

I told him I didn't wan to give names, but he pressured so I started spilling, and guess who just happens to pop into the team leader's office right at that moment?!  Was he eavesdropping? WTF?

He then proceeded to make it a he said, she said situation.  Is he frigging serious?  First of all, I'm a consultant, he's an employee.  I don't deal with petty crap like this at work.  I'm my own boss.  He is such a pissant.

oh well...on the bright side, I think everyone can see what is going on here.

  • That blows.  I hate when adults try to play the petty "he said, she said" stuff like that.  It makes steam come out of my ears.  Kudos to you for holding your schit together.  How much longer are you on this job?  For your sanity, hopefully not much longer!

  • Oh Alicia that really, truly sucks.  Hopefully the boss gets it - it seems like it would be pretty obvious in this situation who's telling the truth.  Just be glad that this job will be over!

  • Yikes! I also feel your pain as I work with some people who I consider not up to par yet still wonder why they have a job. At any rate, just CYA and  hope you're finished with that project soon.
