Baby Shower for Boss

Has anyone ever thrown a baby shower at work?  I've never thrown a baby shower period so I really don't know where to start.

Should we do games?

Decorate?

Include boys?

I figured we could do a pot luck.

Should it be during office hours or after hours? (I'm in college housing so a lot of our employees are RA's.  A lot of them may have class if it's during the day, however if it was an 8-5 deal they could stop by at any time)

Tips, ideas, suggestions??

 TIA

Re: Baby Shower for Boss

  • We've had a few here at work.  We do them during working hrs. usually around lunch time.  We do a potluck where everyone brings something.  We include everyone in the office (even the 5 guys we have) haha.  We also decorate.  As far as games are concerned we never play them since we do everything during work and that would take up too much time but if you all have the time to do it I would!

This! Not at my current work bc of the kid factor but at my old job this was basically what we did.

  • Our department of 36 has had 3 pregnancies this year, so I've had lots of experience with baby showers! Everyone is invited, but not everyone shows up.

We have them over lunch time, and ask for volunteers to bring something in - fruit, choloclate, chips/dip, etc - it's even better if you know what they are craving for their pregnancy. :) We also all chip in and order a cake.

Ahead of time we pass around a card, everyone signs and if they want to be a part of the group gift, they donate money. Others sometimes will purchase their own gifts to bring in. There is no obligation either way...

No games since it is at work and we need to be sensitive to client needs and work load.

They can be alot of fun. Let me know if you need any help or additional ideas. I think I have saved somewhere the last email we sent out notifying our office of the baby shower.
