Saturday, Zane's best man/really good friend had a heart attack. He's 41. He had a few stints put in, and it looks like he will be okay but it shook Zane up a bit.
Today, another of his good friends' house burned to the ground. The family got out with nothing but the clothes they were wearing. Both cars were in the garage and are now gone. They weren't able to get the dog out. They lost everything but are thankfully unharmed.
I'm alternating between shock, tears for our friends, and relief that whatever problems we have, we still have a house and are healthy.
Re: I hate this week
I was going to reply and say "I hate this week too" but I really have zero to complain about after reading all of that. I hope everything starts to look up for all of them...I can't even imagine dealing with even an ounce of all of that.
Apparently, his daughter's lava lamp tipped over. He had a fire extinguisher on it within seconds, but it just spread too quickly.

Indeed. Any of you that have met him may want to start practicing extra caution.
Both situations are so awful! I'm so sorry!
Total loss from a lava lamp? That makes me shake. I have wonky lamps (old with potentially bad wiring), burn candles, all sorts of things that could be a danger given the right circumstances.
Holy terrifying, Batman.
That is so terrible. And I know you added it because it happened, but I wish you hadn't wrote the part about the dog.
Can we do one of those Choose Your Own Adventure endings?
Cali made me laugh out loud here.
But I am still sad about the dog.
I hope things get better for Zane & Friends soon.
The nerve!

Holy crap. That's awful dude. My toilet paper to Zane's friends.
Will has an unhealthy interest in lights. He knocked over a lamp in his room and totally broke it, and he's destroyed two night lights. He now has nothing but an overhead light in his room, but still. I find this terrifying.
